Predator 5 Titled “Prey” Teases To Be As Good As The 1987 Original

After several rumors about Predator 5, the movie has confirmed its official title to be “Prey,” along with dishing out quite a lot of plot details.

For starters, it will be a prequel to all the Predator movies, being set 300 years in the past. As such, it will portray the predator’s first journey to Earth, playing it out as an origin story.

The movie has released an official still as well as a logo. For your perusal:

What is indeed fresh about this Predator installment is that it will be set in the Comanche Nation. Amber Midthunder will be playing protagonist Naru, who will be fighting against the vile but vastly-advanced alien to protect her tribe. She does look quite badass in her first look image!

Besides Midthunder, Dakota Beavers and Dane Diliergo are also part of the cast in undisclosed roles.

As for the iconic Predator, Kyle Strauts will be reprising his role from his 2018 installment.

Prey does have some heavy lifting to do — for while the original 1987 movie starring Arnold Schwarzenegger was an unprecedented hit, all of its later sequels and reboots left fans disappointed and confused.

Still, it seems like the franchise is not thinking of giving up anytime soon but sure is going down the road of rebranding itself as Prey instead of Predator.

In an interview with Collider, producer John Davis disclosed that previous movies had landed in different places than intended, but Prey “is a worthy complement to the first one. It’s going to be as good.”

Prey originally started filming under the name of “Skulls,” being directed by Dan Trachtenberg with a script by Patrick Aison. The good news is that the movie has already finished shooting, thanks to the update from DP Jeff Cutter from their principal film set in Calgary.

With a fresh take and a new name, it is left to see if Prey will impress fans as Predator did. As previously announced, Prey will go straight to Hulu in the summer of 2022.
