During your journey through Asgard in AC Valhalla as Havi, you’ll be given a particular task by Ivaldi, the dwarf Isu blacksmith, through a riddle. One of his riddles involves collecting the root of a mountain – he requires it for forging Gleipnir, a device to contain Loki’s son, Fenrir.
This riddle, called “Potential at its Peak,” entails reaching the top of the tallest mountain in all of Asgard and solving a small puzzle to obtain the root.
It may seem like the ramblings of a senile man at first, but then again, anything is possible in Asgard, right? Fortunately for us, though, solving the whole thing isn’t exactly the most strenuous thing in the world.
That said, let’s try to solve Ivaldi’s riddle and get the root from the highest peak in Asgard, shall we?
To get the root from the highest peak in AC Valhalla, head over to the sync-point in the southern landmass of Asgard. Once there, burn the haystack below with a seed nearby to warm the seed up. Lastly, throw the seed in the pond below once it is hot enough to collect the mountain’s root.
Of course, it might take a little more than just this paragraph to explain the quest to you thoroughly – don’t worry, we’re about to cover the whole thing properly and in detail.
How do you collect a root of a mountain in AC Valhalla?
So, to grab a root of a mountain for yourself in AC Valhalla, you’d want to make your way to the highest peak in Asgard. This particular mountain sits in the southwestern part of the southern landmass in Asgard. It’s also a viewpoint, so it’s not going to be too difficult to miss.
Once there, you’ll find a haystack just below the viewpoint with a large seed right in front of it (You can use Odin’s sight to detect it properly). This seed is what’s going to sprout the root of a mountain.
Now, to get the seed to sprout, you need to equip your torch and throw it into the haystack – this will burn the haystack and eventually, the seed too, warming the latter up.
After the seed has warmed up sufficiently, you need to pick it up and throw it in the pond right below the peak. Doing so will cool the seed down, allowing the root to grow out of it.
All you need to do now is collect the root from the pond and give it to Ivaldi – this will complete the riddle and the quest.
Unfortunately, you won’t be receiving any massive reward for completing this questline. It would simply serve as a means to an end.
After you’ve collected the quest ‘A Feline’s Footfall’ as well, give the two requested items (Cat’s Footfall and the root) to Ivaldi – this will allow him to forge Gleipnir and for you to continue on with Asgard’s Jotunheim saga.
