Pokemon Gives Insights to Ash and Gou’s Childhood

Pokemon: The Series is releasing its first episode on 17th November, and with its imminent release, the crew has been dropping sneak peeks to create some pre-release hype. The first episode of the series, titled “Birth of Pikachu”, will show us Ash’s and Pikachu’s life before they met, and new images have been released from the episode teasing the involvement of Gou in their early lives.

@AIR_News01 tweeted out stills from the first episode of the new series.

These stills emphasize the fact that we are getting a fresh take on the first episode of the original anime series, and it’s going to be a massive treat for long-time fans of the show. Gou, accompanied by Scorbunny, will be an additional protagonist of the series, a young kid from Kanto. There are some moments where Gou will be interacting with Professor Oak, learning about the Pokemon world, and the stills lead us to believe that his origins will tie into that of Ash’s.

The official synopsis of the first episode reads as such:

“In a forest somewhere in Kanto, there once was a lonely Pichu. This Pichu – who was still quite young – had a certain encounter and farewell. This took place shortly before Ash and his partner Pikachu started travelling together. This is the beginning of the anime’ Pocket Monsters.'”

A list of confirmed staff has also been released:

  • Daiki Tomiyasu – Chief Director for OLM
  • Maki Odaira – Series Director
  • Kunihiko Yuyama – Creative Supervisor
  • Shoji Yonemura – Series Construction
  • Shuhei Yasuda – Character Designer
  • Masafumi Mima – Sound Director
  • Yuki Hayashi – Series Composer
