Online Petition to Redo Chainsaw Man: Will it Get Re-animated?

Did you like the Chainsaw Man anime? Most likely, you were mind blown by how accurate and impeccable the show was. Everything from the animation to the direction was no less than absolute perfection, but alas, it’s not possible to please everyone.

Recently, a particularly dissatisfied fan started an online petition to redo the Chainsaw Man anime, which now has received over 2000 signatures.

Does this mean there’s a possibility of Chainsaw Man anime getting re-animated? Nope, not in a million years.

MAPPA won’t spend this much time, effort, and money to redo this already spectacular anime just because a little over 2000 people didn’t like it.

Criticisms are valid and understandable, but there’s no way the anime will be remade because the majority absolutely loved it.

The fan’s reason to do so is that the anime is more Japanese-film-like and fails to do justice to the original manga. They hate Ryu Nakayama’s direction, and the petition’s main motive is to get a new director.

Besides that, the petition also states problems with the storyboard, music, sounds, and Denji’s voice actor Kikunosuke Toya. Let’s discuss all of these points one by one.

As stated in the petition, the adaptation fails to capture the essence of the original manga. The storyboard and direction skip over some dialogs, modify Kobeni’s battle scene in episode 9, and more.

In general, the fan says that the anime lacks the charm of the original work, and the direction of the battle and gag scenes is particularly lousy. Moreover, the fan states that the story takes too long until the Samurai Sword arc has unnecessary plotlines.

Further, the petition mentions that the background music is lame and doesn’t spark excitement during the scenes. An anime as grand as Chainsaw Man should have a powerful soundtrack which it doesn’t.

Lastly, the fan criticizes Denji’s voice actor, Kikunosuke Toya, because he lacks the character’s unhinged energy. In the manga, Denji is impulsive, energetic, and a maniac, but Toya portrays him as gloomy and takes away the madness.

While that is a fair point, I completely disagree because an adaptation doesn’t have to be accurate. Everyone views a particular piece of art differently, and I think Ryu Nakayama’s interpretation of Chainsaw Man is phenomenal.

If you have any points to add to the criticism or in support, drop them in the comments.
