Devastated at his failed attempt to assasinate fascist leader Oswald Mosley, Tommy resorts to putting a gun to his own head. However, Arthur had removed the bullets from the gun, thereby preventing his attempt to take his own life. When he reaches back home, he gets a phone call from an Irishwoman who tells him that they intervened because Mr. Mosley needs to be kept alive.

He sees body bags being taken off a truck and it is revealed that Shelby family’s matriarch, Aunt Polly was in one of them. The family holds a funeral for Aunt Polly and she is cremated inside a Gypsy caravan. Michael vows to avenge his mother’s death. In a flashforward to 1933, Tommy and Michael meet at a bar. Tommy reveals that he quit drinking. Michael is upset that Tommy hasn’t avenged Polly’s death and Tommy reassures him that the moment will come. The two then discuss opium trade seeing how it was the last day of the prohibition.

Tommy planted drugs into the suitcase he’d handed to Michael and sets him up to be arrested and sent to a prison in Boston. Tommy visits Gina and asks her to deliver a message to Uncle Jack. He tells her he will take his opium business to the East Boston Jews if he’s not interested. Gina warns him the consequences of this could be deadly.
