Peacock’s Rutherford Falls Gets An Immediate Season 2 Renewal

Peacock greenlights a second season of Rutherford Falls. The show premiered in April, 2021 itself with Ed Helms, Michael Schur, and Sierra Teller Ornelas serving as creators.

In Rutherford Falls, Nathan Rutherford (Helms) faces a predicament when his ancestor’s statue is set to be re-positioned due to the Mayer’s orders. This brings a strain on his relationship with long-time friend Reagan Wells.

As Nathan campaigns to keep the statue in its original place, Reagan must juggle between her friendship and honoring her duty towards Minishonka Nation.

Erin Underhill, president of Universal Television, congratulates the team.

We are thrilled that Peacock has renewed ‘Rutherford Falls’ for a second season. It’s been wonderful to watch Reagan, Nathan, Bobbie, Terry, and the rest of the Rutherford Fallians come to life in this ambitiously witty series. Mike, Sierra and Ed poured their creative geniuses into the show, and we can’t wait to see what happens next.

The quick renewal is very well justified for the show that has a fitting Native American representation both on screen, and off.

For its writing panel, there are five Native American writers on board – Teller Ornelas, Bobby Wilson, Tai Leclaire, Jana Schmieding, and Tazbah Chavez. This has ensured that indigenoius voices are heard in a fresh, modern and liberating way. Helms, who also plays the lead role of Nathan Rutherford in the show, is known for his past work in The Office, alongside Schur, who are considered comedic geniuses.

As part of the main cast Jana Schmieding of Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and Michael Greyeyes from Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, playing Reagan and Terry.

Fans, who have been delighted about representation done right, are sure riled with the news of a new season coming up. Have a look at this tweet:
