Ozark Season 4 Part 2 was much awaited this year. After the way Part 1 ended with Ruth, the Byrdes, and the cartel in a delicate situation, we knew that things would only worsen.
We also wanted to know if the Byrdes would die, considering Episode 1 showed how their car crashed and overturned on the highway. I’m certainly glad that Part 2 delivers all the chaos we expected and gives us a definitive answer about the Byrdes’ future.
But before the show ends, the last few episodes also give us their fair share of body count. So, here’s a list of all the character deaths in the latest installment of the series.

Omar Navarro is killed by cops after Camila ordered the hit on him. In the middle of him being transferred to another location, one of the cops stops the vehicle, kills the other cop, and tells Navarro that a car will be waiting for him half a mile away. However, after taking a few steps, Navarro hears the gun cock behind him. He turns to realize that he’s being killed, and just like that, the cop shoots him in the chest.
2. How does Javi die?
Ruth Langmore kills Javi because he had killed her cousin Wyatt and his wife, Darlene Snell. At the end of Part 1, Javi quite menacingly shoots the newlywed couple in their own home.
When Ruth gets to know of this, she’s furious and swears vengeance against the new leader of the Navarro cartel. In the first episode of Part 2, she manages to get her revenge by killing him.
3. How does Nelson die?
Nelson is killed by Rachel, who is now working with Ruth.
After Ruth inherits the business, she knows Nelson and the cartel would be after them. Furthermore, she also knew that Nelson was the man who killed Ben.
So, Ruth warns Rachel that the cartel is after them, and when Nelson arrives, Rachel shoots him without even knowing who he was. So essentially, it was Ruth who got him killed through Rachel.
4. How does Ruth die?
Camila shoots Ruth in the chest after knowing that she was the one who killed Javi. Up until the series finale, Marty had Camila thinking that it was Navarro who killed her son.
However, in the final episode, Camila finds out that it wasn’t Navarro who did it. She then enters the fundraiser party and gets the answer out of Clare Shaw, who had also witnessed Ruth kill Javi. She then waits for Ruth to leave the fundraiser and kills her right outside her home, thus ending one of the best characters on Ozark.
5. How does Mel Sattem die?
Mel Sattem is shot in the last minutes of the show by Jonah, Marty and Wendy’s son. After the Byrdes get home from the fundraiser, they find the P.I. having broken into their home.
Sattem reveals he had evidence of how Wendy Byrde had gotten her brother Ben killed, and threatened them with it. Then, in the final moments of the show, we see Jonah cock a shotgun at Sattem, and just as the screen turns black, we hear a gunshot, confirming his death.
6. Conclusion
These were all the deaths in Ozark Season 4 Part 2. The few major characters that managed to make it out alive by the end are the Byrdes, Camila, Rachel, and Clare Shaw.
