Ruby and MEM-cho agree that Kana would be the ideal center, but Kana declines, explaining that she has no desire for the role. She relents after hearing the other two sing and practice the performance.
Aqua is posing as Pieyon while the real star is away on vacation. Kana learns about Ruby’s past and her aspirations for becoming an idol the night before the show. She chooses to go downstairs and discovers Aqua is posing as Pieyon, which makes her doubt how much of “Pieyon’s” remarks are genuine.
On JIF day, B Komachi is squeezed into a packed room with dozens of other underground or less popular idol groups battling for space as they prepare for their performances. Kana spends much of the day reflecting on her failed route to celebrity and how she began to use self-deprecating humor to disguise the anguish she feels as a result.
She also reveals to Ruby, who is worried, that she is more scared of going out in a group since she doesn’t want to bring the others down with her. Ruby, conversely, reassures her by pointing out that they are all rookie idols. Thus, failure is to be expected. No longer terrified, Kana begins to take her center role more seriously just before B Komachi’s performance begins.

Oshi no Ko is a supernatural crime-solving manga series written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump since April 2020 and received an anime adaptation in 2023.
The story follows a doctor, Goro, reincarnated as his favorite idol Ai’s kid. Ai names him Aquamarine and his twin sister, a reincarnation of a patient at the hospital, Ruby. Ai is later killed by a stalker who was also responsible for Goro’s death. As Aquamarine swears revenge on the stalker for his mother’s demise, Ruby follows the same path as her mother to become an idol.
