The much-anticipated TV adaptation of the legendary video game series, Onimusha, is finally making its way to the TV screen. Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming series.
1. Trailer
The official trailer for the Onimusha TV adaptation was released on 20th September.
The action-packed trailer showcases protagonist Miyamoto Musashi donning the series’ iconic Oni Gauntlet and going toe-to-toe with a varied cast of foes, both demonic and human alike.
The series’ theme song ‘The Loneliest’ by artist Måneskin plays on in the background, adding depth and emotion to the spellbinding saga.
2. Plot
Set in the early Edo Period, a time when Japan was transitioning towards peace, and warfare was fading into history, our aging protagonist Miyamoto Musashi embarked on a covert mission. Armed with the mythical “Oni Gauntlet,” Musashi embarks on an epic journey to vanquish the lurking demons known as Genma.
The plot of the first video game takes place in the Sengoku period of Japan, beginning with the death of warlord Nobunaga Oda. However, it’s unclear if any characters from the first game will be in the anime.
The Onimusha TV adaptation is set to premiere globally on Netflix on November 2, 2023.
