Publisher Bandai Namco and developer ILCA have released a new trailer for One Piece Odyssey, which shows the game’s take on the anime’s adored Water Seven arc with the characters visiting the City of Water.
The trailer revealed that the Water Seven and Enies Lobby would both be featured as full environments with a unique story involving CP-9 and the return of the Going Merry, the crew’s original ship.
In One Piece Odyssey, players will embark on adventures with Luffy and the Straw Hat Crew as they attempt to regain their lost powers. To regain these powers, the crew visits “Memoria,” a world built from the memories of their previous encounters.
This leads them to visit important locations from the manga and anime’s history, such as Alabasta and Water Seven. Players will get a new story of the Straw Hats, focusing on Usopp and Robin.
The game will allow players to take control of all 9 Straw Hats while exploring and during turn-based combat.
This game is the series’ first big-budget JRPG and is shaping up to be something iconic that fans eagerly await. The game keeps revealing exciting new locations that fans can foray into and has several locations from the manga that can be explored in the game for the first time ever.
One Piece Odyssey will tell an original story from One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda. Based on the trailer, fans can expect to see several familiar characters in the game, including Franky, Nami, Sanji, and Luffy.
One Piece Odyssey is set to release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam on January 13, 2023.
