Here is everything that you need to know about the biggest villains of the series, the Gorosei:

The Powers of the Five Elders

1. Saint Jaygarcia Saturn

Confirming the popular theory that Saturn’s devil fruit must come from the ushi-oni, he is reintroduced as “Gyuki”, a mixture of an ox and a spider. His appearance also matches that of the yokai, with curving horns and spider legs, and can also produce poison from its claws like the same.

2. Saint Marcus Mars

Saint Marcus Mars is reintroduced as “itsumade”, a grotesque bird-like mythological character. Possessing a human face with other bird-like features like a curved beak and spiky dangerous teeth, it appears to be very disturbing.

After transformation, Marcus also possesses a snake-like body and talons, attacking Labophase. Not much else was revealed about Marcus and his abilities.

3. Saint Ethanbaron V Nusjuro

The last one to transform into the form of a Japanese yokai, Saint Ethan, was reintroduced as ‘bakotsu”, a yokai that was born after a horse burnt to its death. Following the legend, Ethan looks like a skeletal horse.

He has the ability to switch his upper body back to his human form and use his sword in battle. He is seen using slashes enough to freeze half of the Pacifista.

4. Saint Topman Warcury

Saint Topman transforms into a famous Chinese mythological character, “hoki,” also popularly known as “fengxi.” Saint Warcury is reintroduced as a giant boar with huge tusks while retaining his mustache.

Not much is revealed about his powers yet. However, in the legend, fengxi is a two-headed boar that terrorizes humans.

5. Saint Shepherd Ju Peter

Lastly, Saint Sheperd is reintroduced in the form of a giant sandworm, not known in either Japanese or Chinese mythology. It is theorized to have been inspired by the Mongolian Death Worm.

All we have seen Peter do is burrow under the ground at Egghead. It might be safe to assume that he is preparing for an ambush or an underground attack.

What are the Devil Fruits of the Gorosei?

Although their true forms were revealed, inspired by Mythical Zoan Devil Fruits, the names of the devil fruits are not explicitly mentioned. However, you can assume the shadows in the manga panel hinting at their devil fruit.

There is another possibility that they might not have devil fruits at all. Over time, they may have evolved enough to become one with their devil fruits, taking the form of the intended monster.
