Otama was the highlight of this episode. She turned the tables for the Straw Hats and the samurais. Everyone who ate Kibi Dango sided with him, causing huge chaos.

The episode’s end was nothing less than epic. Yamato faced Kaido bravely, and we saw some sick animation there. The fight between father and son is going to be legendary.

The GIfters will continue their fight for Otama in episode 1039, titled “A Dramatic Increase of Allies! Straw Hats Fight Back!.”

Luffy is out of the water, but the anime won’t focus on bringing him back into the fight for an episode or two. Or maybe they will bring him back in the next episode itself.

The tides have turned, and it will be exciting to see where the war will go now. The side shifting by the Gifters has given a massive blow to the Tobi Roppo. Let’s see how they will fight back.

Episode 1038 Recap

The Heart Pirates find Luffy inside the water and pull him out there. They pump out all the water inside of him and wait for him to regain consciousness. Shinobu uses her Nippo to save Momonosuke from the water and flies somewhere safe.

Momo starts crying when he remembers what happened to Kiku and Kin’emon. Ulti holds Otama responsible for what happened to Page One. Nami attacks her with her baton and is shocked to see its capability.

Usopp separates Ulti from Otama. A little black cloud comes out of Nami’s baton. It turns out to be Zeus. He tells Nami to give him a new name, she names him Fluff, but he returns to his usual name.

Nami attacks Ulti with a heavy blow. The attack misses at first, but Zeus strikes again and hits Ulti. The attack does pretty heavy damage to Ulti, and she falls unconscious.

Bao Huang sees it all and accidentally announces it to everyone on Onigashima. The Tobi Roppo runs into a panic. Usopp notices the transmitter and traps Bao Huang.

Usopp tells Otama to use the transmitter to speak. Everyone is surprised to hear her voice. Queen forces her to back off. The Gifters showed up on the battlefield and began attacking all the traitors.

Otama refuses to give up, as everyone is doing their best. She, too, will also continue fighting. She requests all her friends who ate Kibi Dango to fight for Luffy and Momonosuke to defeat Kaido.

Suddenly, the ones who were going to attack her turned around and started attacking Queen. The GIfters start fighting their own men and side with Otama.

Yamato confronts Kaido. Kaido turns into his dragon mode and tells Yamato that they have no chance against him. Yamato replies that she is not fighting to protect Luffy or Momo. She is fighting alongside them.

She only needs to engage Kaido until Luffy returns. Kaido finds it all nonsense, and both of them begin their battle.
