We got some Luffy and Uta backstory in episode 1030, titled “A Pledge for the New Genesis! Luffy and Uta! “
It was a cute and wholesome episode for the first half. The bond between Uta and Luffy, including Shanks, is very heartwarming. Although none of this is canon, it was still emotional.
The episode served as a hype machine for the upcoming movie, and I am excited about the movie. However, the story hasn’t ended yet as in the next episode we will get to know more about Elegia and what has happened to Shanks.

Episode 1031 Speculations
We will delve deeper into the mysterious Red-haired Shanks in episode 1031, titled “The Captain’s Log of the Legend! Red-Haired Shanks!”
Episode 1030 was really interesting, and I am eager to know what happened between Shanks and Uta. The coming events are getting me even more hyped for the movie. Well, that is the purpose of these episodes.
The next episode will probably be the last of this side story, and we will get back to Luffy and Kaido’s battle after the next episode. I can’t wait for all this to unfold.
Episode 1031 Release Date
Episode 1031 of the One piece anime, titled “The Captain’s Log of the Legend! Red-Haired Shanks!”, has been released on Saturday, Aug 27, 2022.

Episode 1030 Recap
In Windmill Village, Uta is angry and complains to Shanks about Luffy’s recklessness. Luffy shows up and asks Shanks to let him aboard his ship. Shanks decline.
He continues to bother him, but Uta interferes and takes Luffy away to train by the sea. They both race towards a rock on the sea, but it turns out to be the local sea monster. They rush back to the shore.
Uta mocks Luffy for running away like a coward. Uta asks Luffy why he wants to become a pirate. She tells him that she wants to travel the world with Shanks and make a lot of songs, turning this world into a happy place.
She wants to build a new genesis. Luffy gets excited and claims that he wants to explore the world and will bring a new genesis himself.
Shanks gets ready to sail again but refuses to take Luffy with him. Uta tells him to become stronger when she gets back, then she will ask Shanks to let him join. Luffy feels lonely when they leave.
After a few days, they return, and Luffy is overjoyed. He rushes towards the ship and asks Shanks about Uta, who is not there on the ship. Shanks tells him not to worry as Uta left the ship to become a singer. This makes Luffy very sad.
Some days later, news spreads that Elegia has been destroyed by Shanks. Beckman comes to Luffy to console him, he tells Luffy that there are some things that Shanks don’t want to talk about, and he shouldn’t force Shanks to talk about them.
Luffy gets angry and leaves. He misses Uta a lot. He meets two bandits in the bushes who beat him up as revenge for some previous mischief. Beckman saves him and takes him home.
The next day, Luffy shows up at the bar, asking Shanks to let him aboard the ship. He isn’t angry at Shanks and acts like a grown-up.
In the present day, Usopp tells Luffy about the divas show that is going to happen in Elegia. The cremated are excited, so Luffy decides to change the course and go to Elegia for the concert.
