The latest chapter of One Piece was chapter 1029 titled, “The tower.” There is a lot to unpack here, and the Wano arc is living up to the hype.
The fight between Killer and Hawkins has finally concluded, and Killer has emerged victorious. Kid finally got rid of his headache and was ready to face Big Mom alongside Law.
Sanji, too, must slowly overcome his fear of turning out like his brothers after gaining new abilities. His battle with Queen is also going to be a significant deciding factor for the war against Kaido.
The Tower card signifies change and reveals a new path. This might indicate the tables turning as the Straw Hats gain an advantage over a previously undefeated Kaido.
1. Chapter 1030 Discussions and Predictions
Chapter 1030 had a lot of exciting developments. The most important of them was Killer defeating Hawkins and releasing Kid from his clutches.
Kid finally got rid of his headache and is no longer a dead weight in front of Big Mom. He and Law will now fight as a team against Big Mom.
Sanji still hasn’t dealt with his new power and is running away. We still haven’t seen the true extent of his abilities, but first, he needs to deal with them himself.
His eventual face-off with Queen might flesh out his real strength but not before he overcomes his fear of losing his kindness and humanity.
We’ll see a fully fleshed-out fight between Kid and Law vs. Big Mom in the next chapter. We might also see someone (maybe Nami, Robin, Zoro, or someone else) showing Sanji that he wasn’t going to turn into a heartless monster and that his mother’s sacrifice wasn’t for nothing.

Chapter 1029 opens with Queen’s sword snapping into pieces as he aims it at Sanji’s throat. Queen recalls a special ability called Haki that made humans more durable, accelerated their healing, enhanced their physical strength while making them cold-hearted.
Sanji runs off, fearing the changes in his body. He is afraid of losing his kindness and humanity and becoming similar to his brothers.
Meanwhile, Big Mom becomes a menacing threat to Eustass Kid on the second floor as Law watches them. He berates Kid, not knowing about his throbbing head, which was caused due to another ongoing battle. He then attacks Big Mom with a Chamres Counter Shock but faces an angry Prometheus who counters a Stolen Fire attack.
Kid still doesn’t understand why he has a terrible migraine while Big Mom mocks him, saying that he might kneel over on his own.
We see Hawkins banging his head against a pillar on the third floor, causing the migraine that is making Kid suffer. Killer begs Hawkins to stop, but he mocks him. Hawkins calls him “miserably unfortunate” since he ate a Smile fruit. When Hawkins doesn’t stop, Killer makes an offer to him that he could take his life instead of Kids’.
Hawkins kicks Killer’s head and tells him that Kid must be facing Big Mom and must see this as a chance to supplant an emperor finally. Killer roars at him, telling him to stop getting in his way. Frustrated, Hawkins tells Killer that his side has no chances of winning the battle, and he can still surrender.
Killer hits Hawkins with an emotional blow, stating that Hawkins, too, regretted his decision to join Kaido. Hawkins draws his sword, saying that they’ll see who made the right decision when the fight is over.
Killer readies himself to fight but, before attacking, asks him what would happen if the damage on his body has no alternative on Kid. Irritated, Hawkins yells that he should have known the extent of his powers. Killer then slices his left arm, revealing that Kid did not have a left arm.
He then asks a second question. Once he detaches the doll from the severed arm, how many lives were left with Hawkins? Hawkins tells him that it was the last one before pulling out the Annihilation Card.
Killer dodges its attack, and Hawkins finally draws another card to see the results of their battle. The card drawn is the Tower. This draw gives Killer an opening, and he launches a Sonic Blade attack on Hawkins, killing him.
Kid’s headache finally stops as it is revealed that the Tower card signifies great chance, and its hidden meaning indicates the opening of a new path.
