Chapter 1016, titled “This Is Otama!!” starts off with the people of Wano enjoying the Fire Festival, unaware of the intense battle taking place at Onigashima.
The CP0 closely analyzes every aspect of the battlefield, trying to conclude who will be the victor. They mention that even though the battle favors Kaido by a significant margin, it is amusing to see the disparity in manpower shrinking.
Nami and Usopp are searching for the transmitter so Otama can communicate with everyone who ate her Kibi Dango.
They realize that Nami’s Clima-Tact is talking. Zeus claims to have been absorbed by Nami’s Clima-Tact and has now morphed into a new weapon.
Just as they were about to tackle Bao-Huang, Ulti crashes from the roof, headbutting Usopp. She captures Otama since she is now aware that it is because of her that everyone is turning against Kaido.
Nami, enraged that Ulti is yet again trying to harm Otama, uses her newly morphed Clima-Tact to attack her. At first, she misses, but since the weapon has absorbed Zeus, he controls the attack’s trajectory, directly impacting Ulti.
Bao Huang, shocked by what she just witnessed, announces Ulti’s defeat, unaware that her transmitter is on. Usopp uses his attack to capture her, allowing Otama to call out to her followers in the crowd.
Meanwhile, Kaido and Yamato are facing off against each other. Kaido states that he will not let Yamato do as she pleases, and she will be the Shogun of Wano.
The chapter ends with Yamato mentioning that she is not going to beat Kaido. However, she is adamant about holding him off, till Luffy returns because she believes that Luffy is the one Oden was waiting for, who will change the world.
