This 1000+ chapter series is often regarded as the King of Manga because of it being the highest-grossing manga for a decade.
One Piece released chapter 1007 on Sunday, titled “Mr. Raccoon Dog.” So, it’s time to discuss the release date, scans, and other details for chapter 1008.
1. Chapter 1008 Raw Scans, Leaks & Spoilers
Raw scans for Chapter 1008 of the One Piece manga have been released. Chapter 1008 is titled “Leader of the Atamayama Thieves Brigade, Ashura Doji.”
Chapter 1008 picks up from Chapter 1007’s cliffhanger. We see Oden standing in front of the wounded Scabbards. Oden tries to explain that he is here through Toki’s power. Everyone rejoices and feel motivated by Oden’s request to join him in defeating Kaido. That is, everyone except Ashura Doji.
Ashura sees through this ruse and claims that Oden is an imposter. He reminds Kin’emon that Toki’s power can only send people forward in time, it cannot change the past. Overwhelmed by emotion, he punches Kin’emon out of the way and cuts Oden’s face. No blood comes out of Oden, proving that Ashura was right.
“Oden” takes advantage of this moment and drives a sword through Ashura’s torso. This brings the others back to reality. They figure out that this ruse is being concocted by Kanjuro as he is the only one with the abilities and knowledge to pull this off.
They jump in to attack the impostor, who reveals a vest made of bombs about to burst. In a heroic moment, Ashura pushes everyone else out of the way and jumps off the floor with the impostor. A large blast engulfs them both, possibly killing Ashura.
Kanjuro comes out of hiding to find and kill Momonosuke. The others try to follow him, but are stopped by the sudden appearance of Jack. Inuarashi takes charge and tells the other to leave Jack for him and continue to chase after Kanjuro.
The scene shifts to Orochi, who is still alive and kicking. He is just running around Onigashima and lighting up everything on fire.
This transitions into Momonosuke’s group, which is still on the run. Two things get highlighted – Momonosuke can somehow sense Luffy’s current condition & Yamato expresses interest in taking down Kaido.
In the final segment of the chapter, we see how Luffy’s group is faring up against Kaido and Big Mom. The chapter ends in an epic double spread showing Kaido in his hybrid form standing along Big Mom with the supernova figuring out that they cannot win this fight if they don’t split up the two Yonkou.
2. Chapter 1008 Speculations/Predictions
Chapter 987 officially kicked off the war on Onigashima. With the declaration of an all-out war against Kaido, Big Mom, and Orochi, Luffy drew a lot of attention to himself. Since there is a lot going on at the same time, it is more than likely that we will see parallel storylines instead of just one.
I. Oden’s Revival?
Chapter 1007 ended with the biggest cliffhanger of this year. In all his glory, Kozuki Oden returns from the dead to greet the wounded Red Scabbards.
Admittedly, this reveal threw me off a little. However, it would be a giant scandal if Oden was still alive. Oden’s death meant a lot to the fandom and to the story of One Piece. Bringing him back to life would not only be an insult to his character, it would simply be bad writing.
While there are a few explanations as to why Oden is seen at the end of chapter 1007, the simplest and most realistic one is – Kanjuro is still alive and is doing this to make the Scabbards let their guard down. This brings us to the next prediction:
II. Kanjuro and Orochi’s Return
Kanjuro was defeated by O-Kiku, and Orochi was beheaded by Kaido quite a few chapters ago. While shocking at first, soon it was evident that both of them are still alive. Simply because of the fact that their character arc was yet to be completed.
To no one’s surprise, Kanjuro and Orochi will likely return in the upcoming chapters.
III. New Onigashima
Chapter 997 showed Kaido using his devil fruit ability to lift up Onigashima to ferry it into the Flower Capital. Since the Flower Capital is bursting with joy, if Kaido lands there with Onigashima, a lot of casualties will happen.
It will be interesting to see how the Straw Hats battle against Kaido with the lives of Wano citizens at stake.

Chapter 1007 starts by demonstrating the terrifying power of Wano’s samurai. In particular, we see that Hyogoro’s rampage has defeated most of the Oniwabanshu and Mimawarigumi captains. We then pick up from the end of chapter 1006, where Yatappe is about to take Hyogoro’s life on his orders.
In a very emotional scene, we see Hygoro’s disciples fighting their emotions to follow their boss’ orders. The Pleasurers start taking heavy casualties from Queen’s virus. They complain about this situation to Queen, who in turn treats them like disposable trash. He says that since Smileys aren’t coming back anytime soon, they’ve lost their chance at proving their worth to Kaido. They deserve to be sacrificed so that their Ice Oni form can help Kaido’s cause.
Right before Hyogoro’s execution, Chopper steps and and stop’s Yatappe’s sword while injecting Hyogoro with an antidote! Miyagi and Tristan fire a canon ball which disperses the antidote in a breathable form. In one fell swoop, Chopper heals everyone on the floor.
Seeing his virus fail, Queen tries to lash out at Chopper, but the Pleasurers defend Chopper and seem to have switched sides! This will greatly aid the Rebellion Alliance.
Marco swoops in and grabs a hold of Queen’s neck. Taking the cue, Chopper eats a Rumble Ball and hits Queen with the full force of a Monster Point punch.
The chapter then switches to Momonosuke’s group. Momonosuke, Yamato and Shinobu are still on the run. Momo has a melt down about feeling useless, he finally snaps and turns into his dragon form.
We then go back to the CP0, and in a surprising turn of events, we find out that the Smiley Devil Fruit Momonosuke ate was derived by Vegapunk using Kaido’s lineage factor! Momonosuke’s fruit is directly linked to Kaido’s!!
In the final segment of the chapter, we see Kine’mon’s group, who has been patched up by the mysterious silhouette we saw before. Giving the biggest cliffhanger of this year, the chapter ends by showing none other than Oden himself walking into the room to talk to the Scabbards!
