This 1000+ chapter series is often regarded as the King of Manga because of it being the highest-grossing manga for a decade.
One Piece released chapter 1002 on Sunday, titled “Yonkou vs New Generation.” So, it’s time to discuss the release date, scans, and other details for chapter 1003.
1. Chapter 1003 Raw Scans, Leaks & Spoilers
Raw scans for Chapter 1003 of the One Piece manga have been released. Chapter 1003 is titled “The Night Reflected on a Go Board.”
The chapter starts by continuing the epic Gear 4 Kong Gattling attack. After dozens of rock hard blows, Luffy punches Kaido’s face into the ground. As a consequence of using so much power in the last few chapters, Luffy reaches his limit and needs to wait for 10 mins before he can use his Haki! A really terrible situation.
Taking advantage of Luffy’s helpless state, Big Mom goes in for an attack with Prometheus, however, Zoro pulls Luffy out in the nick of time. While Kid and Killer go in to attack Kaido while he’s down, Law lands a “Counter Shock” on Big Mom.
Before Kid or Killer can do anything, Kaido rises up and swirls at such speeds that it creates a tornado. In this tornado, Zoro loses grip of Luffy, who then ends up in Kaido’s mouth. Zoro uses “Santoryuu: Kalasutra Great Dragon Twister” and actually cuts through Kaido’s scale armor! Thus, successfully rescuing Luffy from Kaido’s jaws.
Kaido responds with a Dragon Twister of his own, which sends wind slashes flying in all directions. Fortunately, no one gets hurt.
The chapter transitions back to the war, where we see that CP0 has arrived in Onigashima. There, they find out that the rebellion army has lost 400 out of 5400 fighters, while Kaido’s army has lost 3000 out of 30000 fighters. Showing every Straw Hat Pirate matchup in this war, they talk about how this war won’t end even if Kaido and Big Mom are defeated. Unless every single Straw Hat pulls their weight and defeats a commanding officer, there’s no hope.
As the chapter ends, we shift back to the rooftop. KAIDO HAS FINALLY CHANGED TO HIS HYBRID FORM!!! (we just get to see a silhouette) and both Yonkou are finally starting to have fun in this fight.

2. Chapter 1003 Speculations/Predictions
Chapter 987 officially kicked off the war on Onigashima. With the declaration of an all out war against Kaido, Big Mom, and Orochi, Luffy drew a lot of attention to himself. Since there is a lot going on at the same time, it is more than likely that we will see parallel storylines instead of just one.
I. Kaido’s Hybrid Form
Luffy, Zoro, Kid, Killer, & Law arrived on the rooftop of Onigashima epicly in chapter 1001. Facing off against the Yonko in front of them will not be an easy task, even though they outnumber their enemy.
This fight will be one for the history books and it officially began when Luffy made Kaido eat dirt with his Gear 3 – Red Roc! They’ve been trading blows back and forth since the fight began, almost making Kaido seem not that big of a deal.
The true power of Thousand Beast Kaido will be revealed soon with his hybrid form. This fight is far from over.
II. The Three Minute Countdown
Chapter 996 revealed that O-Tama hitched a ride on an enemy ship to travel to Onigashima. On the same page, she specifically asks Hihimaru to hold off Page One and Ulti for 3 minutes.
While this can be passed off as nothing, it is very likely that after these three minutes are up, an important reveal will be made. The reveal will probably be related to the enemy ship which Tama boarded.
III. New Onigashima
Chapter 997 showed Kaido using his devil fruit ability to lift up Onigashima to ferry it into the Flower Capital. Since the Flower Capital is bursting with joy, if Kaido lands there with Onigashima, a lot of casualties will happen.
It will be interesting to see how the Straw Hats battle against Kaido with the lives of Wano citizens at stake.
IV. O-Tama’s Devil Fruit Prowess
While some people might have forgotten about her, O-Tama still has a big role to play in the upcoming war.
Her devil fruit allows her to have complete control over animals and Zoan devil fruit users who eat “Kibi Dango” made from her cheeks. Coupled with Usopp’s sniping skills, Tama may be able to control a huge chunk of Kaido’s forces against him.
It is more than likely that she was the looming figure behind Robin and Jinbei in chapter 979.

5. Chapter 1002 Plot
Chapter 1002 continues the 2v5 fight between the Yonkou and the Supernova. Kaido uses an attack called “Great Wind,” however Zoro counters it by using Enma. Luffy takes this opportunity to hit Kaido with his “Gomu Gomu no Kong Rifle.” Kid follows with “Slam Gibson,” and Law finally makes up for his horrible attack in the last chapter by using “Gamma Knife” on Kaido.
Killer goes in to attack Kaido with “Kamaa Sonic,” but Big Mom uses Zeus to attack Killer with “Indra” (lightning attack).
Luffy follows up his Kong Rifle with a “Gomu Gomu no Rhino Schneider” aimed at Kaido. Kaido uses “Boro Breath” to target Luffy, however, Zoro interceeds again and slices it up with Kinemon’s “Kitsunebiryuu: Homurasaki.”
Continuing the barrage of attacks, Zoro hits Kaido with the same Flying Dragon Flame technique he used against Ryuma. The slash cuts through one of the horns on Onigashima, however, it misses Kaido. Kaido is reminded of Oden’s terrifying power when he looks at Zoro. Even Big Mom warned Kaido to dodge the attack.
Big Mom uses a large scale lightning attack, which doesn’t work on Luffy because he is made of rubber! Luffy ends the chapter by attacking Kaido with a new attack called “Gomu Gomu no Kong Gatling.”
