The adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his crew in search of the legendary treasure — One Piece, have been serializing chapters for over two decades.
This 1000 chapter series is often regarded as the King of Manga because of it being the highest-grossing manga for a decade.
One Piece released chapter 1000 on Sunday, titled “Straw Hat Luffy.” So, it’s time to discuss the release date, scans, and other details for chapter 1001.
1. Chapter 1001 Raw Scans, Leaks & Spoilers
Raw scans for Chapter 1001 of the One Piece manga have been released. The title for chapter 1001 is “The Monster Battle of Onigashima.”
The chapter starts by showing Kaido’s shock at the fact that Luffy’s attack actually hurt him. This confirms that the Ryou he learned is effective against Kaido. As Kaidou looks at Luffy, he sees the shadows of Roger, Whitebeard, Oden, and Rocks behind him. Kaido goes in for an attack, but Luffy uses Future Sight Haki to dodge. However, Kaido is so fast that Luffy is partially hit regardless.
Big Mom tries to interfere with “Heavenly Fire,” but Zoro cuts Prometheus in half!!! Zoro can officially cut fire!!!
Kaido goes in for another attack, but Law pulls Luffy out using Shambles. After this, in a comedic moment, the three captains start competing against each other about who is a “lower-level” guy. They all get hit by Big Mom’s attack due to their antics.
Zoro puts on his bandana and a rivalry between him and Killer emerges. Together, they go in to attack Kaido and manage to wound him. Kaido smiles and compliments their power.
Luffy, Kid & Law are back on their feet and attack Kaido together. Kaido tells Big Mom to wait since he wants to see their peak power.
Luffy uses Gomu Gomu no Kong Gun, Law uses Takt to drop tons of rocks on Kaidou and Kid uses a new attack called “Punk Rotten: Punk Vise”, a giant robot with a skull face that crushes Kaido with both hands.
Kaido emerges from the rocks in dragon form. In a beautifully drawn double spread, Kaidou in dragon form and Big Mom with her flaming sword face the 5 Supernova.
The chapter ends as Kaido says that it would be such a waste to kill them all. But it can’t be helped.
Whoever wins this battle, will be only a few steps from becoming the Pirate King!!

2. Chapter 1001 Speculations/Predictions
Chapter 987 officially kicked off the war on Onigashima. With the declaration of an all out war against Kaido, Big Mom, and Orochi, Luffy drew a lot of attention to himself. Since there is a lot going on at the same time, it is more than likely that we will see parallel storylines instead of just one.
I. The Fight Begins
Luffy, Zoro, Kid, Killer, & Law arrived onto the rooftop of Onigashima epicly in chapter 1000. Facing off against the Yonko in front of them will not be an easy task, even though they outnumber their enemy.
This fight will be one for the history books and it officially began when Luffy made Kaido eat dirt with his Gear 3 – Red Roc! Buckle down, for the most awaited fight in Wano is in progress!
II. The Three Minute Countdown
Chapter 996 revealed that O-Tama hitched a ride on an enemy ship to travel to Onigashima. On the same page, she specifically asks Hihimaru to hold off Page One and Ulti for 3 minutes.
While this can be passed off as nothing, it is very likely that after these three minutes are up, an important reveal will be made. The reveal will probably be related to the enemy ship which Tama boarded.
III. New Onigashima
Chapter 997 showed Kaido using his devil fruit ability to lift up Onigashima to ferry it into the Flower Capital. Since the Flower Capital is bursting with joy, if Kaido lands there with Onigashima, a lot of casualties will happen.
It will be interesting to see how the Straw Hats battle against Kaido with the lives of Wano citizens at stake.
IV. O-Tama’s Devil Fruit Prowess
While some people might have forgotten about her, O-Tama still has a big role to play in the upcoming war.
Her devil fruit allows her to have complete control over animals and Zoan devil fruit users who eat “Kibi Dango” made from her cheeks. Coupled with Usopp’s sniping skills, Tama may be able to control a huge chunk of Kaido’s forces against him.
It is more than likely that she was the looming figure behind Robin and Jinbei in chapter 979.
3. Chapter 1001 Release Date & Highlights
Chapter 1001 of the One Piece manga, titled “The Monster Battle of Onigashima”, has been released on Sunday, Jan 17, 2021 at 9:30 am PDT.
One Piece manga is published under Shonen Jump magazine, which is a weekly magazine that comes out every Sunday.

5. Chapter 1000 Plot
The chapter starts by showing Luffy reaching the final staircase before Onigashima’s roof. Minks gathered there have already cleared any enemies to make way for Luffy to progress with ease.
Back at the Performance Stage, we see Marco bypass King and Queen to fly Zoro to the roof. It’s also noticeable that Queen has modified his neck and is technically a Cyborg.
Momonosuke and Yamato are still conversing about Luffy, which leads to a mini flashback of Ace.
We see Ace revealing Luffy’s dream to Yamato; this is first moment where Yamato starts to like Luffy as his words are the same from Oden’s logbook. The flashback ends as Yamato gives a Vivre card to Ace and then later finds out through his Vivre card that he has passed away.
We finally reach Onigashima’s rooftop in a brilliant double page spread showing Luffy, Zoro, Kid, Killer & Law assembled before Kaido and Big Mom.
Luffy walks past the two Yonko to talk to Kin’emon, who is laying on the ground – half-dead. This leads to us seeing all the Red Scabbards laying half dead behind him. Kaido asks Luffy to state his dream to his face.
Ignoring Kaido, Luffy asks Law to transport the Scabbards to a safe location below. As soon as Law does that, Kaido flings his Spiked Kanobo on Luffy. Luffy jumps into the air, and after a mini-flashback full of emotions, grinds Kaido into the ground with Gear 3 – Red Roc!
The chapter ends as Luffy announces that he will surpass them and become the King of the Pirates.
6. Chapter 1000 Cover Page
Apart from the main storyline in the manga chapters, One Piece also advances the storyline by featuring scenes around the world in the form of cover stories.
To celebrate One Piece’s Chapter 1000, Shonen Jump has a special quadruple page spread planned. Chapter 999 and chapter 1000 both feature a double page spread, which when put together will form the first ever quadruple page spread to mark this wonderful occasion.
In chapter 1000’s double page color spread, we see the left half of the quadruple color spread. The color spread seems to be an updated version of the double page spread in chapter 100.
