This 900+ chapter series is often regarded as the King of Manga because of it being the highest-grossing manga for a decade.
One Piece released chapter 999 on Sunday, titled “The Sake I Brewed to Drink With You.” So, it’s time to discuss the release date, scans, and other details for chapter 1000.
1. Chapter 1000 Release Date And Highlights
Chapter 1000 of the One Piece manga, titled “Strawhat Luffy”, has been released on Sunday, Jan 03, 2021 at 9:30 am PDT.
Chapter 1000 holds great significance in One Piece and is the most awaited chapter of this year. One thing is for certain – Oda won’t let his fans’ expectations down.
One Piece manga is published under Shonen Jump magazine, which is a weekly magazine that comes out every Sunday.
I. Is One Piece On A Break This Week?
No, chapter 1000 of the One Piece manga is not on a break this week. The series will continue in the Weekly Shonen Jump on January 3.
Chapter 1000 will be released in the Weekly Shonen Jump on Sunday, January 3, 9:30 am PDT.
2. Chapter 1000 Speculations/Predictions
Chapter 987 officially kicked off the war on Onigashima. With the declaration of an all-out war against Kaido, Big Mom, and Orochi, Luffy drew a lot of attention.
Since there is a lot going on at the same time, it is more than likely that we will see parallel storylines instead of just one.
I. The Three Minute Countdown
Chapter 996 revealed that O-Tama hitched a ride on an enemy ship to travel to Onigashima. On the same page, she specifically asks Hihimaru to hold off Page One and Ulti for 3 minutes.
While this can be passed off as nothing, it is very likely that after these three minutes are up, an important reveal will be made. The reveal will probably be related to the enemy ship which Tama boarded.
II. Oden’s Log Book
In chapter 999, we saw Yamato looking at Oden’s Log Book while mentioning that Luffy has the middle initial of “D.” Chapter 1000 has been highly anticipated and will definitely cause waves of discussions in the One Piece community.
It is possible that Yamato might reveal a few details about the Will of D. from Oden’s Log Book.
III. New Onigashima
Chapter 997 showed Kaido using his devil fruit ability to lift up Onigashima to ferry it into the Flower Capital. Since the Flower Capital is bursting with joy, if Kaido lands there with Onigashima, a lot of casualties will happen.
It will be interesting to see how the Straw Hats battle against Kaido with the lives of Wano citizens at stake.
IV. O-Tama’s Devil Fruit Prowess
While some people might have forgotten about her, O-Tama still has a big role to play in the upcoming war.
Her devil fruit allows her to have complete control over animals and Zoan devil fruit users who eat “Kibi Dango” made from her cheeks. Coupled with Usopp’s sniping skills, Tama may be able to control a huge chunk of Kaido’s forces against him.
It is more than likely that she was the looming figure behind Robin and Jinbei in chapter 979.
3. Chapter 1000 Raw Scans, Leaks & Spoilers
The title for chapter 1000 has been leaked. Be still my heart for the title of chapter 1000 is “Straw Hat Luffy.” Some of the rough scans have also been spread across the internet.
In chapter 1000, Luffy will reach the rooftop while Marco blocks King and Queen’s attacks and blows away Zoro to the rooftop.
Meanwhile, Yamato remembers how Oden’s journal talks about young powerful people entering the New World in 20 years. In the next panel, we can see a team battle!

The chapter starts with a flashback revolving around Ace. We see that Ace raided Onigashima to retrieve some children who had been kidnapped from the mainland.
In the process, he met with Yamato and bonded with her due to both of them hating their fathers.
Fortunately for Ace, Kaido and the All Stars were out on a voyage during that time. Ace told Yamato about Luffy and punched a giant statue of a dragon as a warning for Kaido. He promised to return back and free Yamato from her chains.
Back to the present, we transition to the Performance Stage where Marco tries to fly Zoro up to the roof. In transit, we see another flashback. This time, we see the Whitebeard pirates (including Blackbeard) trying to talk sense into Ace.
As much as they want to help the citizens of Wano, an all out war between two Yonko would result in countless civilian casualties, therefore they decided to stay away from the matter.
As the flashback ends, we see King and Queen in their Zoan forms trying to stop Marco in his tracks.
In this chapter, Momonosuke finds out that Yamato is Kaido’s daughter and that Luffy is Ace’s brother, who was the Pirate King’s son. Tama finds out that Luffy is Ace’s brother.
The scene shifts to the roof of Onigashima, where Big Mom and Kaido are conversing about Nico Robin and Pudding. The chapter ends with a two major reveals:
- Kaido’s Devil Fruit is the Fish Fish Fruit (Mythical Type)
- Big Mom gave Kaido his Devil Fruit, which is what Kaido’s life-long debt to her is
6. Chapter 999 Cover Page
Apart from the main storyline in the manga chapters, One Piece also advances the storyline by featuring scenes around the world in the form of cover stories.
With One Piece’s 1000th chapter right around the corner, Shonen Jump has a special quadruple page spread planned.
Chapter 999 and chapter 1000 will both feature a double page spread, which when put together will form the first ever quadruple page spread to mark this wonderful occasion.
In chapter 999’s double page color spread, we see the right half of the quadruple color spread. The color spread seems to be an updated version of the double page spread in chapter 100.
We see Franky, Zoro, Sanji, Usopp, Robin, Chopper and Brook celebrating atop a pile of gold.
Since Luffy, Nami & Jinbei are missing from this cover, they will likely be center stage in chapter 1000’s double page color spread.
