NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 to Shift to TU106 GPU after Shortage of TU107 GPU

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 was Steam’s most popular GPU for a while before newer graphics cards took its place. With better GPUs such as the RTX 3050 or any of AMD’s Radeon RX series, there’s really no reason to keep pursuing the possibilities with the GTX 1650. However, there are no plans to discontinue this GPU yet. According to some reports, it might be due for an update soon.

A Board Channel report revealed that the NVIDIA TU117 GPU is out of stock. As an alternative, board partners will now shift to either the powerful TU116 or TU106 GPUs for the GeForce GTX 1650.

Of course, now that a different GPU will be used, some changes will be in order. So, there will be some adjustments to the specs, since bigger silicones consume more power, but performance is expected to be similar as before.

The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 has multiple variants, including one with the TU116 GPU. NVIDIA has not confirmed whether the memory specs will also be changed with the new GPU. But it looks like a move on their part to phase out Turing GPUs without ray tracing acceleration or DLSS support.

The future of the GeForce GTX 1650 remains to be seen, but it is confirmed that the GPU is not going off the market anytime soon. However, GPU tweaks are very common in the Chinese market so we can expect them to make their way abroad as well.
