Nintendo Switch lithium-ion battery issue addressed and fixed

Nintendo recently announced that they would extend the redownload period indefinitely for their Wii U and 3DS digital stores. This comes after the announcement last year that the digital storefronts would reach their end-of-life on March 27th, 2023.

They have made headlines once again for battery issues on their console lineup. With more issues on the Switch such as the “Joy-cons” and battery life, the console owners would be better off following the company’s guidelines.

The customer service wing of Nintendo issued a tweet in view of all the consoles that have not been used for an extended period of time. It was suggested that the consoles be charged at least once in six months to prevent “unable” to charge issues when using it again.

This is a common issue faced by most lithium-ion battery-powered devices. However, the community has retweeted to spread awareness.

In the six years since its release, the Switch has garnered a dedicated fanbase with a lot of exclusive titles to the portable console’s name. There are many more coming in the future including the big one “The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.”

It might seem that Nintendo has hardware issues to sort out. However, this is part of the product’s lifetime, and the company has a user-centric approach to sorting these problems out.

While they have yet to mention what is to be done when the lithium-ion batteries are completely expended, it is probable that the batteries must be replaced via authorized service centers.

While the newer V2 and the Switch OLED come with a bigger battery life, most own the OG Switch. Thus, it might be in the best interests of Switch owners to recharge from time to time in order to save a trip to the service center.
