Posters of Slam Dunk’s Latest Movie Reveals December Premiere

As we wait for the summer anime lineup, another forgotten anime giant has been creeping up on us. I’m talking about Slam Dunk, the legendary basketball series by Takehiko Inoue.

It’s been two decades since the anime’s last episode aired, and just as fans had almost left hope for a continuation, a movie announcement was made.

Some new theatrical posters for the latest Slam Dunk movie have been circulating among cinema chains in Japan. The posters state that the movie will be out on December 3, 2022. The words “The First Slam Dunk” are featured on the posters, but it isn’t confirmed whether it’s the finalized title of the movie.

Toei Animation is producing the film, and Takehiko Inou himself is directing and writing the script. All the staff members behind the movie have already been announced.

The upcoming movie might feature the legendary Shohoku vs. Kainan match.

Slam Dunk has already received a 101-episode anime and four short animated films, but the manga was never completely adapted.

The Shohoku team is now perfect with the super rookie, Rukawa Kaede, the gorilla captain, Akagi, the fastest player, Miyagi, and the king of 3-pointers, Mitsui. Add to that Sakuragi, the ‘Boss Monkey,’ and you’ve got a team that can conquer anything.

The National Tournament isn’t finished yet, and Kainan still stands as a huge wall between them and their goals. Can Shohoku win this match? Or will they blow their last chance? Sakuragi is yet to prove just how valuable his skills will turn out to be for his team.
