Right after the premiere of a brand-new trailer for the animated movie, Illumination Entertainment released many posters for The Super Mario Bros. Movie. They give us a sneak-peak at the various colorful characters and how they differ from the original Nintendo game.
After the average performance of its 1993 predecessor, Nintendo has partnered with Universal Pictures and Illuminati Entertainment to revamp the characters of its most iconic game to date. And the trailer says that they have done a pretty good job!

The Super Mario Bros. Movie boasts an ensemble cast that includes Chris Pratt, Charlie Day, Keegan-Michael Key, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, and Anya Taylor-Joy.
The new posters highlight the movie’s main characters, including Mario, Princess Peach, Donkey Kong, Luigi, Browser, and Toad. Each character has a unique location in the background that provides fodder for speculation for die-hard fans.

Making a movie from a video game is a challenging task, especially when it comes to revamping a retro game. The fans have needed help getting accustomed to the movie’s character redesigns. It has been an uphill task for the creators to win them over since they announced that Chris Pratt would play Mario. The news started a protest among fans, who were unhappy with the paradigm shift in their titular character.
It forced the creators to release the first teaser for the movie with a minimum number of dialogs for Mario. While many fans are still cynical, the new trailer will likely ease that tension about the film.
The creators confirmed that the visual team had worked very hard to maintain a certain level of accuracy in the movie.
The character designs have essentially remained the same, with only minor tweaks done to make the faces more expressive.
It is safe to say The Super Mario Bros. Movie will not suffer the same fate as Sonic the Hedgehog. In the latter, the movie had to be remade because of the protests over the trailer due to character redesigns.
The Super Mario Bros Movie posters will be out in theaters across the country in no time. It will catch not only the eyes of die-hard fans but also casual moviegoers and children. It will hopefully start the Mario buzz in this generation’s kids too!
Nintendo and Universal Pictures have placed a big bet on the success of this movie as they intend to create more movies in this franchise. Meanwhile, the Mario-based theme park is also set to open at Universal Studios Hollywood just ahead of the film’s release.
