Pokémon’s Reboot Gets Major Update, Focusing on New Heroes and Plot

New heroes are slowly emerging, and information on the upcoming Pokémon has just been revealed, offering fans a sneak-peak into what an Ashless Pokémon looks like.

The makers tweeted the character trailer for the new Pokémon series today. It highlights the new protagonists of the show and teases what the story will focus on.

The two new protagonists are a boy named Roy and a girl named Riko. It is revealed that Riko possesses a unique pendant, and it seems like the magical pendant will be a significant element in the show’s new installment.

It is also said that Riko belongs to the Paldea region that was shown previously in Scarlet and Violet, and this version would be set “all over the Pokémon world”.

It also suggests that many other places will play a vital role in this season besides Paldea.

The Pokémon series led by Ash isn’t really known for its storytelling prowess. In its long run that spanned over 1200 episodes, the series has hardly had long story arcs. Most episodes have been one-offs and have featured stand-alone plots.

The new series will overturn that. We expect Riko’s pendant to play a significant role, and the mystery behind it will be a driving force behind the entire plot. A closer look at the pendant gives us the impression that it resembles the symbol used for the Terastal mechanic in Scarlet and Violet.

Does this mean that the pendant acts as her secret weapon, and she can terastalize her Pokémon outside Paldea? We will have to wait for the series to know that!

While the shift from episodic to serialized storytelling is welcome, fans should not get too excited just yet. The show will still be meant for children, so adults who have grown up watching Pokémon and are expecting a darker and edgier premise this time should keep their hopes down.

The show will likely explore the world with the same awe that Ash and his friends used to do. However, since the show is rebooting, a change in the anime storytelling style would be an excellent reason for kids and adults to give it a shot!

The tweet also says that new information will be revealed next week. So, stay tuned!
