The series revolves around an app with the same name. Real account is a social media app that enables its users to link their accounts to reality. Ataru Kashigawa uses the account as a means to escape reality.
However, his life is turned upside down when he sent into the virtual world and forced to participate in horrific death games along with thousands of unsuspecting users.
The world has one sick twist; people with zero followers will die. After being betrayed by his friends and left with just an unknown follower, Ataru must survive these games to return to the real world.

Real Account is a shounen manga written by Okushō and illustrated by Shizumu Watanabe that began serialization in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine’s from January 9, 2014. The series switched to WeeklyShōnenMagazine in January 2015 but returned to Bessatsu Shōnen Magazine in June 2018.
The series concluded on November 9, 2019, completing, 192 compiled within 24 volumes. Kodansha Comics is also publishing the series in English.
The series also received a light novel adaptation penned by Ren Kanan.
