Alan Wake 2 developers Announce New Game+ with Nightmare Difficulty

When players shell out their hard-earned money on the latest title in this economy, they expect more than just one run of the title. This is why most of the latest titles come with a new game-plus mode designed for players who have completed the whole title once.

Developers Remedy Entertainment have announced a New Game+ mode for Alan Wake 2 that comes after launch day as an update. As a part of the New Game+ mode, players can retain all their unlocked weapons and upgrades with a new “Nightmare” difficulty level. There will also be a new alternative narrative, including Manuscript pages and unique video content.

An alternative narrative means the excitement will remain alive, and the title will not go stale after the game’s first run. This sets Alan Wake 2 apart from other titles with a new game-plus mode.

The new narrative will be present throughout the new manuscript pages that will be available after launch day in this mode. It must be kept in mind that this mode has been announced without a release date.

This means the New Game+ mode could arrive as an update in early 2024. The new difficulty setting, Nightmare, will also provide a fresh new challenge for the seasoned players who have completed the title once already.

This move is not a surprise as the earlier Alan Wake American Nightmare and the original Alan Wake from 2010 featured this increased difficulty.

In the original Alan Wake, released in 2010, the Nightmare difficulty would lock select Manuscript pages, making it a bit trickier to beat the game with limited clues.

However, Remedy does not plan on doing such a thing as it seems. The Nightmare Difficulty will add a bit more spice to Alan Wake 2.

Alan Wake 2, which takes about 20 hours to complete, is out now for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
