Avatar: The Last Airbender Release Date Finally Confirmed by Netflix

After a barrage of delays, Avatar: The Last Airbender finally has a release date. Despite being announced in 2018, the series has suffered frequent producer exits and production delays, pushing its release date backward.

The Last Airbender finally began filming in 2021, starring newcomer Gordon Cormier as Aang, the Avatar who holds the world’s fate in his hands.

During the Geeked Week celebrations, Netflix finally announced that Avatar: The Last Airbender will be available on small screens from February 22, 2024.

Furthermore, Netflix released a new trailer giving us the best glimpse yet at the show’s live-action and setting. Watch it here:

Considering how things were running at one point, fans thought The Last Airbender would debut in 2023. However, a delayed release time is a boon in disguise for the show if we ponder it closely.

Much of 2023 has seen actors and writers stuck in strikes as they battled the studios over fair wages. Therefore, a 2023 release meant almost zero promotions and muffled excitement.

Now that the strikes have ended, we can be assured that the cast and crew will be fully involved in hyping the show before its release.

Moreover, another heavyweight show will be released at the end of this year, i.e., Percy Jackson and The Olympians. Disney +’s Percy Jackson is highly anticipated and shares much in common with The Last Airbender regarding theme and target audience.

Both shows target a younger demographic and have had movies in the past that failed to impress fans of the source material. Plus, they are set in fantasy worlds with witty 12-year-olds at the center.

Netflix is notoriously known for being extremely difficult to please with numbers. Therefore, only a sweeping success can ensure that we get The Last Airbender season 2, which is impossible if Percy Jackson steals its thunder.

However, with a staggered release date, both shows can ensure that their numerical targets are well-satiated, and one doesn’t eat on the other!

Got the rare talent to binge an entire show in a single sitting just like that. Although a sucker for psychological thrillers, no bias for any genre when it comes to a good story. A living proof that Netflix and chill is not a myth!
