While it was speculated that the manga will end by New Year 2020 with the defeat of the Demon King, Suzuki chose to take a different route. Not only did manga continue, but Nakaba Suzuki also turned the world of Seven Deadly Sins upside down.
Nanatsu no Taizai manga chapter 337-338 came as a shock with the introduction of mother Chaos and that too in the body of Arthur Pendragon. Chapter 339 was released recently, and it further unravelled the mystery of Chaos and the world it created.

2. Chapter 340 Speculation
At the end of chapter 339, Merlin parted ways with the rest of the Seven Deadly Sins and made a choice to protect Arthur without involving others.
In chapter 340, the spotlight will likely move from the sins to Arthur and Merlin. The chapter will focus on the current condition of Chaos and how Arthur and Merlin choose to deal with it. With all things considered, one question still looms over everyone’s head – “Did Merlin betray everyone or not?”
3. Chapter 339 “Fragment of Chaos” Plot
As we saw in chapter 338, that Arthur’s cat, Cath, returns to him. However, it suddenly attacked Arthur and ate away his arm, and by consuming Chaos, it grew larger. Chapter 339 revealed the truth about Cath.
Cath’s real name is Cath Palug, and it was a child of Chaos itself, who once stood up against Chaos to gain its power and rule everything. After being defeated by Chaos, Cath Palug continued the evildoings and was eventually sealed by the members of the Goddess clan.
It breaks the seal by eating Arthur’s arm, and starts attacking everyone. Cath reveals that it only protected Arthur to eat him after he has manifested Chaos. Seeing his best friend/pet betray him, Arthur acquires the true power of Chaos and the real Holy Sword Excalibur with it.
With his new power, Arthur can defeat Cath in one slash. Although, all of this takes a toll on his body, and he collapses. Merlin then denies the help from the rest of the sins and sends them away. She claims that they need not suffer because of her sins and that she is ready to give her life to save Arthur.

The Seven Deadly Sins is a fantasy manga series written and illustrated by Nakaba Suzuki. Ten years later, the very same Holy Knights stage a coup and begin a tyrannical rule in the kingdom. They forced the third princess Elizabeth Liones to go in search of the Nanatsu no Taizai to bring back peace to the kingdom.
