N LITE to Produce an ‘Afro-Anime’ Film Titled ‘MFINDA’

Going global and becoming famous worldwide comes with a lot of pros, the greatest of which is diversification, and it has started to take place in the anime industry too.

This industry has become immensely popular since Covid-19 struck and the whole world was on lockdown. While stuck at our houses, we all discovered anime and its hidden potential, which is now going beyond Japan.

Following this trend, the multimedia company N LITE has revealed a new project, an ‘Afro-Anime’ film titled ‘MFINDA.’ It is an anime movie based on African characters and their culture and will stay true to its essence while also satisfying our otaku taste buds.

N LITE refers to the film as ‘AFRIME,’ which means Afro-anime or an African anime.

The company has also unveiled a key visual featuring the protagonists, Odi and Nasambi, with a jungle in the backdrop.

The story follows a young girl, Odi, who lives in the 1970’s Democratic Republic of Congo, and faces some political disturbance and familial crisis. One day as danger comes close to her home, Odi gets transported to MFINDA, a magical spirit forest in the precolonial Kingdom of Kongo.

In MFINDA, Odi encounters another girl named Nasambi and the two form a friendship to search for a way for Odi to return home.

Nasambi and Odi must venture into the MFINDA and confront some evil spirits to get the Nkisi, as it’s the only way out for the latter. More details regarding the plot and the film’s release date will be revealed by the franchise soon.

As for the cast and staff, there is no information available for them either. The announcement only reveals the film’s title and story; everything else will be unveiled later.

Since not much is known about the film yet, I’m not sure how to form an opinion on it. However, it does look interesting and has a unique concept too, so I’m definitely curious to see what it brings to the table.
