As children, we have always wanted to make our own video games, haven’t we? That’s exactly what the people in this Apple TV + series do (or pretend to, anyway!).
This week’s episode is called ‘The Year of Phil’, and it turns out that it is not precisely the case in the end! Getting a cheap lawsuit filed against your own company so you can get a hefty payout hardly ever works!
The much-anticipated season finale will release next week, and I am already counting the days on my calendar!
So, without much ado, let’s get started!
1. Season 3, Episode 10 Synopsis/Speculation
This week’s episode ends in a tragedy. Poppy’s ‘masterpiece’ has fallen through, and investors don’t think Playpen will be profitable. Even after much preparation and build-up, Playpen appears dead in the water.
So, is it the end of Poppy’s dream? I don’t think so.
This season has been all about Poppy’s rise from the ashes. Earlier, she suffered from a significant failure when her new game mode became monotonous. That was what triggered Playpen’s accent.
I feel like the finale has a big twist regarding the future of Playpen. Will Poppy and Ian reunite and build a new version of the game? Or will Ian gloat about Poppy’s misfortune and take over the reins?
The showrunners surely have a happy ending planned for Poppy!
This week, David finally has had enough of Ian. He holds his ground and asks Ian to leave, and Ian agrees. David needed this surge of confidence going forward, and I expect to see a new, confident man going into the finale.
Mythic Quest movie will finally start filming in full swing because David will make some solid decisions and lead the pack like a proper leader.
Episode 9 also put an end to Phil’s lawsuit plans. I think the awkwardness will get the better of him, and he will quit. Will he change sides and join GrimPop? That will be an exciting turn of events!
Anyhow, the creators will need to deal with Phil’s situation very carefully, as it can be a start of a new chapter in the show.
Whatever happens, all the signs are pointing towards a satiating finale which will tie all the loose ends and give us a happy ending!

In this week’s episode, Poppy is very underconfident about her sales pitch for Playpen. She practices it in front of Dana but can’t seem to gain any confidence,
Dana teaches Poppy to be more confident. In the process, Dana refers to Playpen as ‘their game’. This starts a feud between the two as Dana thinks she has equal stakes in Playpen as she helped popularize it.
In the end, Poppy becomes impressed by Dana’s confidence and decides to copy the same in her sales pitch.
In the end, Poppy’s pitch goes well, but the investors don’t see any profitability in Playpen. She doesn’t get any investors, which breaks her.
Meanwhile, Carol holds a meeting to introduce new employees. She makes an ageist comment about Phil, and he files a lawsuit against her. He has waited for years for this oversight so that he can get a payout.
Phil tries to gather signatures but fails horribly in his endeavors. The court case idea falls through.
Elsewhere, David and Ian have an altercation, and David musters courage and asks Ian to step aside. Ian submits to David, and this impresses Joe, who thinks they will finally be able to make a good Mythic Quest movie now that David is acting like a leader.
