The anime industry loves to play with the isekai genre and the brother/sister complex trope. Although the majority of weebs, despite these two themes, there’s a niche audience that loves it, and ‘My One-Hit Kill Sister’ is made for them.
This story follows Asahi Ikusaba and his older sister Mayu who get isekai-d into a fantasy world. Asahi discovers he’s weak, while Mayu is the strongest and has all the cheats.
To tell you more about the Ikusaba siblings, the official website for ‘My One-Hit Kill Sister’ anime has shared three character videos focusing on them. The website also reveals the opening theme song, ‘Karei One Turn’ (Splendid One Turn) by TrySail, for the anime debuting in 2023.
Onto the character videos, the first one focuses on Asahi Ikusaba.
Asahi Ikusaba is the story’s protagonist and the weakest of the bunch, even after getting isekai-d. Contrary to what he imagined, Asahi didn’t get any special powers or cheats to survive in the fantasy world.
He has an elder sister Mayu, who has a brother complex and is obsessed with Asahi in an unhealthy way. The second character video focuses on Mayu, who is the exact opposite of her brother.
In a funny turn of events, Mayu becomes the overpowered hero with all the cheats when she gets isekai-d to this world. The ironic part is that the reason she got transported to this fantasy realm was due to Asahi as she was chasing him to get his attention.
Mayu loves her brother Asahi dearly (way too much, in my opinion) and is also extremely powerful. She is capable of killing terrifying monsters with just one hit, making it even more difficult for Asahi to escape her because of his weakness in this world.
Although Mayu is formidable, there’s one person who can duel her one-on-one. It is the powerful demon named Kilmaria, and the third character video focuses on her.
Kilmaria is one of the six great demons and wields the power of fire and darkness. She’s the only one who can take Mayu on in a battle and isn’t afraid of her.
Despite being famous as a cold-hearted demon, Kilmaria has a change of heart when the Ikusaba siblings save her at one point. She is taken aback by their actions and gets interested in the siblings’ party.
Although the show is full of weird tropes that the community doesn’t like, it is still worth watching because of its action.
The Ikusaba sibling duo is a badass one, and if you take out the brother complex, Mayu is one fine warrior who serves some great fight sequences.
About My One-Hit Kill Sister
My One-Hit Kill Sister is the anime adaptation of Konoe’s light novel series ‘One Turn Kill Sister in Another World: I Started Living in Another World with My Older Sister.’
The novels were first published in 2019 and also received a manga adaptation in 2020. The story focuses on Asahi and his sister, who have been isekaid into a new world.
While Asahi is a low-level fighter, his sister has unbelievable abilities, thus taking away his position as the series’ hero.
