Episode 6 Recap
Episode 6 opens with Bunko coming across Mameda practicing and telling her she’s gotten more used to it. Bunko tells her that since Shirara is getting promoted, Shirara asked the organization to promote Mameda to become an opener. Mameda is overjoyed.
Mameda has nightmares about her first performance. Bunko and Mameda take a walk, where they see the Kurokuma family beat up a man, but Bunko tells her to go.
Mameda is extremely nervous before her first performance. Koito tries to reassure her, but her nightmares terrify her into thinking everyone is against her, and she hallucinates that they have evil eyes. Shirara understands her and tells her to imagine that the audience is food.
That helps her initially, but then she thinks that will be against her too. Mameda misunderstands that Bunko is disappointed in her. Mameda, in her tanuki form, walks around the town, drunk on soda pop.
She overhears a man saying something about beating the heat by adding more on top; since he was eating a hot meal during a hot day, it’ll cool him off when he steps outside, which gives her an idea.
Mameda approaches Rakuda Kurokama, who greets her harshly. She asks him to see her performance because if she can perform in front of him, she can perform in front of anyone. She tells him if she can’t, Shirara will suffer too. He agrees.
Mameda cannot perform since she cannot handle him watching or even not watching her. Rakuda advises her to remember those who brought her up. He also hints that he has feelings for Shirara.
Mameda apologizes to Bunko, who tells her she’s looking forward to her performance. Mameda cries and hugs her.
About My Master Has No Tail
My Master Has No Tail is a manga by TNSK which is serialized in Kodansha’s good! Afternoon magazine from January 2019.
The manga features Mameda, a shape-shifting tanuki, who wants to learn the art of rakugo or comic storytelling. She sought out Bunko to be her master.
Yet, Bunko has no intention to have an apprentice. After lots of mishaps, Mameda is taken in and needs to prepare for going through the tough path of being an artist.
