2. Recap of Episode 8 of My Hero Academia: Vigilantes

As the episode unfolds, the city faces a new threat: a massive villain with a Gigantification Quirk, resembling a kaiju from a monster movie. While Koichi and Pop Step help evacuate civilians, they discover a child left behind in the chaos. Koichi pleads for Captain Celebrity’s help, but the hero refuses, insisting he needs an official request from the authorities before stepping in. Disappointed but undeterred, Koichi takes it upon himself to save the child, who turns out to be a dog. Meanwhile, Captain Celebrity eventually engages the villain, defeating it just in time to save Koichi and the dog from being crushed by the kaiju’s fall.

Later that night, Koichi continues his rescue efforts, finding a sumo wrestler and a woman trapped in a collapsed building. As Koichi struggles to assist them, Captain Celebrity swoops in dramatically, lifting the woman himself and telling Koichi to handle the sumo wrestler. The situation exposes the hero’s flashy, self-promoting nature: he’s more interested in photo ops than real teamwork. Still, Captain Celebrity plays his part, and the two manage to get everyone to safety.

The episode takes a comedic turn when it’s revealed that Captain Celebrity is trying to charm Makoto Tsukauchi, even setting up a date with her. Makoto, ever the strategist, uses the opportunity to teach the hero a lesson by getting his wife, Pamela, involved via a phone call. This forces Captain Celebrity to scramble to a nearby robbery and stage some pictures with Koichi as “proof” of his hero work. As the episode closes, Koichi’s strict mother arrives for a visit, leaving him in an awkward spot after he lied about having a girlfriend, while Pop is clearly flustered by the situation.

Episode 9 could dive deeper into Captain Celebrity’s troubled past and why exactly he’s in Japan, as well as the fallout of Makoto’s clever move with his wife. With Koichi’s mom now in the picture, we may see Koichi juggling his vigilante life and personal challenges, while Pop might find herself drawn into more awkward situations. And of course, the ever-growing tension between Koichi and Captain Celebrity could explode into a more direct conflict, especially if Knuckleduster gets involved.
