You know an anime is a gem when a studio is specifically created just to animate the light novel, and half of the frames they draw deserves to be on the wall of an exhibition. The last episode was very important for Rudy’s character development, as so far in this world, no one had called him out for doing anything wrong.
His mother always brushes it aside, saying he’s just a child, his dad was already disappointed in himself, the maid felt it wasn’t her place to speak up, and the most that Roxy did was bop him on the head with a book.
But this time, when Rudy did something bad, that made Sylphy uncomfortable around him, and he almost lost a friend. Rudy felt really awful, and for the first time, he had something to lose from his actions.
As Sylphie makes up with Rudy, in the next episode, we will get to see more of Rudy teaching her incantation-less magic casting while having fun, just as every five-year-old should.

With the confidence and strength to step out of the village, this time Rudy asks his parents for permission to go outside and play. Overjoyed on hearing that Rudy is going out on his own, they send him off happily.
As he revels the world outside his house alone for the first time, he once again comes across the dark reality of society, bullying. But this time, it isn’t directed at him, instead, another person about his age.
Having the strength to fight off the bullies this time, he cannot turn a blind eye and musters up the courage to save the person. Later, he learns that it was because the person was an elf and had green hair that he was getting bullied.
At first, even Rudy gets suspicious of the kid being a Superd, but since he did not have a red gem on his forehead, Rudy takes a breath of relief. Just like this Rudy finds his second friend.
They both exchange names, and Rudy learns that his name is Sylph. Sylph was impressed by the magic that Rudy used to save him and asks to teach him. Since he had the time and nothing better to do, Rudy agrees.
Later at night, when Rudy reaches back home, he learns that the news of him fighting the bullies arrived faster than him, but it was a bit twisted. Without listening to his son’s side of the story, Paul slaps Rudy for his rude and unapologetic behavior.
Disappointed by this, Rudy puts the harsh truth in front of his dad, and Paul gets ashamed of his actions.
With Rudy and Sylph playing and practicing magic six months pass quickly, and Sylph gets a lot better and his mana also grows a lot too. With this Rudy discovers that a lot of the claims in the book are wrong. Curious to perform incantation-less casting like Rudy, Sylph requests to teach him that too, and he succeeds in no time, crossing one more false claim from the book.
As they enjoy their time learning and practicing magic, rain starts pouring down, and they rush to Rudy’s house to take shelter.
Rudy quickly takes off his clothes to take a bath, but Sylph resists. Worried he might catch a cold, Rudy forces Sylph to strip, and as he takes down Sylph’s underwear, what should’ve been there, was not there. And Rudy discovers, he… was a she.
Embarrassed by this, Sylph starts crying, and Rudy’s family rushes after hearing the cry. This time, Paul calmly listens to Rudy’s side of the story, as Rudy apologizes for his behavior. Rudy also discovers that Sylph’s real name was Sylphiette.
Rudy apologizes to Sylphie, but she gets uncomfortable and embarrassed around him and does not talk to Rudy for a while. But after some days, she visits Rudy’s house and makes up with him.

Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation is a light novel written by Rifujin na Magonote and illustrated by Shirotaka. The light novel series began publishing from January 23, 2014, in Kadokawa’s Media Factory.
