Mortal Kombat 1 set to release on September 19th in three versions

A Warner Bros Discovery executive had confirmed the existence of the twelfth installment in the Mortal Kombat franchise.

Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon had been playful with the franchise’s fans on Twitter. The official YouTube channel had also been releasing teaser videos.

The enthusiastic fanbase was sent down a spiral when one of the teasers showed a little more than a grain of sand. The second teaser featured a ticking clock and suggested that Mortal Kombat 12 would be a reboot. The title will be called Mortal Kombat 1 instead of 12.

As per the latest teaser video, many new characters have been announced and confirmed to come to Mortal Kombat 1. The release date has been set for September 19th.

About Mortal Kombat 1

Developer NetherRealm Studios has officially revealed Mortal Kombat 1, the next chapter in its long-running fighting game series, which was released on September 19th. It takes on that name, rather than the expected Mortal Kombat 12 name, because–as previous teasers hinted at–Mortal Kombat 1 is a sort-of-reboot of the series and takes place in the New Era timeline established by Liu Kang after he ascended to godhood in 2019’s Mortal Kombat 11.
