Sherlock Holmes is undoubtedly the biggest name in the mystery genre, but as Jim Moriarty from BBC’s Sherlock said, “Every fairy tale needs a good old-fashioned villain.”
Not a fairy tale but, Moriarty the Patriot retells us Doyle’s stories from Moriarty’s perspective. The anime will be back soon with a Cour 2 that will take us to the next round between the two masterminds of London.
On Wednesday, the official website for Moriarty the Patriot anime started streaming a promotional video for its second part, which will premiere in April 2021.
The video was hardly a minute long but was enough to build up the hype for all the Sherlock fans out there. It starts by taking us back to episode 10 of the anime, where Moriarty indirectly challenged Sherlock by saying, “Catch me if you can Mr Holmes.”
We get to see Mycroft Holmes advising his brother to be careful around women. And by ‘women,’ he must have specifically meant Irene Adler, around whom this second part is expected to revolve.
Things get even trickier when we see a black and white picture of Irene, with an unknown voice ordering someone to kill her and Moriarty.
The first part ended on a cliff-hanger where Mycroft reports to the Queen regarding the stolen documents that hold Great Britain’s greatest secrets.
Knowing Sherlock, he will get involved more in this tangled web of conspiracies. Despite Mycroft’s warning, Sherlock will never miss a chance to confront someone as smart as Irene.
Meanwhile, Moriarty has finally found someone who poses a threat to his plan of fixing the nation from the nobility. This indeed endangers the life of Sherlock, who thinks that life is better dangerous than being boring.
With Irene and Mycroft introduced in the story, ‘the Game is on,’ and it will be interesting to see who emerges as the winner in this war of minds.
