Moon Knight: We May Finally Meet Jake Lockley in Ep 4

In Episode 3, Moon Knight has landed in Egypt, the home of his host-god Khonshu. This is also where their enemy Ammit is buried.

Marc’s attempts to find Ammit’s tomb before Harrow can get there and resurrect her are constantly being interrupted by someone else taking over his body… Someone who isn’t Steven.

Marc and Steven switching control over their body is one of the most entertaining aspects of the show, and the opening sequence didn’t disappoint as Marc flitted through trying to make sense of his blackouts. It’s kind of like a parallel to Steven’s blacking-out experience in Episode 1!

Steven confirms that he hasn’t been taking over their body when Marc blacked out, indicating there was a third personality who has taken control. This “mysterious” personality could be Jake Lockley, given how he does not shy away from murder.

So, there you have it—Jake Lockley may finally appear in the upcoming episodes, probably as soon as Episode 4.

Now, the reason why it’s probably Jake Lockley is that Marc only had four other popularly known personalities: Steven, Jake, Moon Knight, and Mr. Knight.

Steven

For all intents and purposes on the show, Moon Knight and Mr. Knight have been turned into “suits” with no sentience or personalities of their own. The art of deduction leaves us with Jake.

In that almost-romantic boat ride with Layla, Marc reveals that he has always kept his other personalities in control. But what he does not comment on is whether he is aware of the existence of Jake Lockley.

Note that he still does not elaborate on his personality disorder, which would make things a lot easier for us to understand as viewers. We’re also itching to know how he came to be the Fist of Khonshu in the MCU, but I guess we’ll take it one step at a time.

It’s clear that each personality has some agenda of their own: Marc needs to stop Ammit’s resurrection as part of his “last deal” with Khonshu, while Steven just wants to live a life of non-violence and get himself “cured” of this nightmarish multiple personality ailment.

This makes us wonder, if Jake Lockley appears on the show, what exactly will his motives be? Steven and Marc’s dysfunctional dynamics make me doubt Jake’s intentions will be in tandem with any of the two personalities.

An interesting bit is that in the comics, Jake is the one who could successfully keep things secret from the other personalities, so far as even having a wife and kid without the others knowing. Could he be hiding something big in the show as well?

The Disney-esque ending of the show is going to be how Marc and all his personalities realize they have to learn to work together. So this means that even if Jake has an agenda of his own, he needs to cash in some Moon Knight team spirit.
