One of the sadder episodes of this series, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch From Mercury features the death of the Elan, who was just a lookalike of the actual Elan. Suletta waits for him on a bench, unaware he is being executed for losing against her.
Not only did this episode make me sad, but it also raised a lot of questions. I wonder who Elan is, who was the lookalike we saw, and why he took Elan’s identity. Here are the latest updates.

Episode 6 Recap
Belmoria Winston, a scientist at Peil Technologies and a survivor of the Ochs Earth massacre, meets Prospera. Belmoria is the scientist behind Elan. Belmoria acknowledges being coerced into working for Peil and queries why Prospera is making Suletta pilot a Gundam.
Prospera responds by querying how many test subjects came before Elan. In the meantime, Guel’s father disowns him and forces him to leave the Jeturk residence because of his defeat against Elan.
To assist Suletta in the forthcoming combat, the Earth House works to construct a maneuvering thruster pack for the Aerial. It is discovered during a checkup that the present Elan is a body double for the real Elan Ceres, whose appearance has been changed to resemble him.
Suletta sings a birthday song for Elan over the Peil House PA to connect with him. On the day of the combat, Suletta declares that Elan will have to reveal more about himself if she wins. The battle then starts, with Suletta winning. The Aerial displays a few human-like lights coming out of it before she wins.
After Suletta prevails, Elan confesses that he knew someone who had once celebrated his birthday. Suletta assures him that she and many others will do the same. The following day, Suletta waits to meet Elan, but she has no idea that Peil Technologies is getting ready to get rid of Elan because of his failure.
Before he dies, he sings ‘happy birthday to himself, and Suletta does the same while waiting for him.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury (Kidō Senshi Gundam: Suisei no Majo) is an upcoming mecha anime series and the fifteenth mainline entry in Sunrise’s long-running Gundam franchise, succeeding Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans. It will premiere in October 2022.
The story follows Suletta Mercury who has transfered to the Asticassia School of Technology from the planet Mercury. She dreams of becoming a Gundam pilot and navigates her way through this new world.
