Imagine your closest childhood friend turned out to be the next head of the world’s most elite and dangerous spy family. Although the chances of it happening to you are slim, the protagonist of Mission: Yozakura Family, Taiyo, had to experience it in the worst way possible.
Not long ago, rumors were flying around regarding this manga getting adapted as a TV anime, but nothing was confirmed.
However, the Jump Festa 2023 event has revealed that the Mission: Yozakura Family manga has been slated to receive a TV anime in 2024 by SILVER LINK.

The announcement was accompanied by a teaser visual featuring Taiyo Asano with his childhood friend and the Yozakura family’s next leader, Mutsumi. Taiyo is shown in some cool spy gear with Mutsumi in her school uniform with a backdrop of cherry blossom trees.
Besides the key visual, the franchise’s official Twitter handle posted an illustration drawn by the mangaka, Hitsuji Gondaira. It features the seven Yozakura siblings with Taiyo celebrating the anime decision.

If you’re confused about why Taiyo is dressed like that, the answer lies within the story’s premise.
Since Mutsumi is the next head, she is overly protected by her siblings, especially her eldest brother, Kyoichiro. While it might sound cute, it most definitely is not, as Kyoichiro takes drastic steps to be close to Mutsumi at all times.
Kyoichiro even threatens and almost kills any guy who comes close to Mutsumi, which in this case is the shy and innocent Taiyo. In order to protect Mutsumi and himself, Taiyo agrees to marry her, become a part of the Yozakura family, and train to be a spy.
If you’re a fan of spy comedies with a family element, this is the perfect anime for you to watch.
The manga is just as epic, and trust me, you won’t be bored for even a second, so I highly recommend checking it out.

Mission: Yozakura Family (Yozakura-san Chi no Daisakusen) is a manga series written and illustrated by Hitsuji Gondaira.
It follows the protagonist Taiyo Asano and Mutsumi Yozakura who’s the head of an elite spy family. After getting targetted by Mutsumi’s overprotective brother, Taiyo agrees to marry Mutsumi to protect both of them from her brother. This leads Taiyo to become a part of Yozakura family and learning how to become a spy for Mutsumi’s protection and safety.
