Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake Rumored to Release on Both Xbox and PC

Metal Gear Solid Remake rumors have been floating around on the internet for the longest time, and they were rumors for the most part until some credible insiders claimed that a Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake was in the works and would be shown off during a PlayStation showcase.

The previous rumors stated that not only a Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake was in development but that it was also being developed as a PlayStation exclusive, hence people speculated that it would be shown off at the Showcase. But new reports have debunked such exclusivity claims.

As per a report from Insider Gaming, the unannounced Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake will also be coming to Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. The report also stated that PlayStation might have some sort of exclusivity deal with Konami after all, but that may only extend to marketing.

Since Konami and PlayStation’s exclusivity deal just extends to marketing, it makes sense that the game will be shown off in the PlayStation Showcase and not in any other event. Even though nothing is confirmed, the sources behind these claims have a good track record, having recently accurately predicted the release date of Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon.

This also doesn’t necessarily debunk an old rumor that stated that the Remake would be a timed PlayStation exclusive. That may very well still be the case, with the game coming to Xbox and PC a few months later. Previous reports also claimed that the game was aiming for a 2024 release.

The Remake is expected to be revealed tomorrow at the PlayStation Showcase. The event will begin at 1pm PST and run for more than an hour. It will focus on PS5 and PSVR2 games in development from both first-party and third-party developers and will feature a glimpse of new creations from PlayStation Studios.

About Metal Gear Series

Metal Gear is a series of techno-thriller stealth games created by Hideo Kojima. Developed and published by Konami, the first game, Metal Gear, was released in 1987 for MSX home computers.

The player often takes control of a special forces operative (usually Solid Snake or Big Boss), who is assigned the task of finding the titular superweapon, “Metal Gear”, a bipedal walking tank with the ability to launch nuclear weapons.
