Capcom has done a great job of trying to make Mega Man X DiVE appeal to the Mega Man fan in us all. Not only does it feature a wide variety of characters from across the X series and beyond, but the narrative is unique and feels like a fresh breath of air.
If you aren’t familiar with the original Mega Man X DiVE, it has side-scrolling action gameplay like in the Mega Man X series, but you can equip and level up a different gear and play as a ridiculous number of other characters from across the entire Mega Man franchise.
On Sunday, CAPCOM revealed during its CAPCOM Showcase stream that it would release an offline version of its Mega Man X DiVE (RockMan X DiVE) smartphone game. Mega Man X DiVE Offline will launch on PC, iOS, and Android this year.
The plot is based in the Cyberworld region of Deep Log, where data from numerous titles is saved. Players are called to action after an unknown problem corrupts the Mega Man X game data. Players “DiVE” into the realm of Deep Log to debug the problem with the help of RiCO, a spontaneously appearing Navigator.
Players control Hunter Programs based on X, Zero, and other Hunters to vanquish Maverick data and restore the game. The game has also had a lot of crossovers with other Mega series and Capcom titles, such as Street Fighter and Devil May Cry.
Given that the game is going offline in specific locations, it’s an excellent decision that Capcom allows users to continue accessing the games without requiring the main server.
