Fans Points Out Several Flaws In New Matrix Resurrections Poster

The Matrix: Resurrections have brought back the iconic Neo-Trinity duo in an all-new badass poster.

Dressed in their signature leather suits, Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss are seen walking down a flight of stairs with the Matrix’s digital rain in the background. The poster features the phrase “Return to the source.”

As with the trailer, the poster too, repeats teasing that the team will have to tackle the problem from its root, that is, its source code.

But not a lot of fans were happy with the poster’s rendition. A Reddit thread outlines how the sunglasses are photoshopped on and one of Trinity’s legs appears to be missing.

Fans are also not big on Reeves’ unshaved get-up that makes him look like John Wick, than it does Neo. Adding to this is the poster’s uncanny resemblance to 2019 Joker poster that had Joaquin Phoenix with the steps and the buildings framed in a similar manner.

Picking up on that line, fans even compared Morpheus’ new look to the Joker’s costume. Have a look here:

Apart from Reeves, Moss and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, this group poster also features Jessica Henwick’s Bugs, and Jada Pinkett Smith’s Niobe.

The posters do seem very low-budget, especially for a franchise that has a cult following and is gearing up to return after almost two decades.

While The Matrix: Resurrections’ trailer does look promising, these posters leave a sour taste in one’s mouth — and certainly falls short when compared to the classic Matrix trilogy posters.

The Matrix Resurrections will take place 20 years after the last movie. We are yet to learn what has gone down in the last two decades and what havoc awaits them. Whatever it is, I only hope it doesn’t ruin the trilogy’s status as a classic.

The movie will be hitting theatres on December 18, along with a limited 30-day streaming on HBO Max.
