In a magic-dominated world, Mash lives in hiding with his father as they keep their existence unknown from society. As someone who cannot use magic and is unmarked, the boy is considered a weak link that must be exterminated immediately.

However, through the sheer power of working out and building up immense strength, Mash has brought himself to the level of just slapping away magic blasts with his hands.

Mash has enrolled in a magic school while entirely unable to use any magic, an idea that will end in nothing but disaster. He will likely be ridiculed and possibly even threatened to be expelled because of his lack of magic powers.

However, there will be a chance for him to show his true strength using his physical prowess, which will let him stay within the school and maybe even catch the interest of some of his classmates and teachers.

A world filled with magic, where it is a natural part of everyone’s life that every single person is used to it. However, deep within the forest lies one boy whose existence defies this natural order of things, a boy who cannot use magic.

Regro Burnedead, a 75-year-old man who lives with his son in the forest, sits calmly in his house as Mash breaks the door and enters the house. He tries to put it back in place but ends up just breaking it further.

Regro doesn’t want to tell him the valid reason why his workouts are all physical and that he can’t use any magic and also forbids him from venturing out into the city, which he immediately ignores and goes into the town to buy some cream puffs.

As his hood falls off, everyone stares at him in disbelief as Mash stands confused. The word of an unmarked person in the city quickly spreads and reaches the ears of a higher authority, but Mash inadvertently gets in a fight with a patrol officer.

As the chief reaches Mash, he is quickly rescued by Regro and begins getting lectured but seeing Mash apologizing so sincerely, and he quickly forgives him. However, the magic police now stalk the house and promptly raid it searching for the boy.

Mash begins returning to the house as he overhears the commotion from outside as they interrogate his grandpa over his location while he profusely refuses to tell them. Regro has always been a weak user of magic and ran into Mash as a baby, abandoned on the side of the road.

As the officer goes to exterminate Regro, Mash breaks through the door and takes out the first officer, and prepares to send them all to hell. Brad, the officer,  charges up a powerful attack and throws it at Mash, who slaps it away.

He charges an attack strong enough to destroy the entire area, but Mash merely toys around with him and easily blocks all his attacks before throwing a wand at him, strong enough to make him give up. Brad gives him a challenge to enroll in the magic school and be chosen as  Divine Visionary, the only way to be accepted by society.

Mashle: Magic and Muscles is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Kōmoto. It was launched in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump magazine in January 2020 and ended in July 2023, with its chapters collected in 18 tankōbon volumes.

Set in a magic world, Mash Burnedead is a young man who was born without magic. In order to live a peaceful life with his adoptive grandfather, he needs to become a Divine Visionary, a title given to exceptional students from the Easton Magic Academy.

Mash goes to the magic school, despite not having any magic, and must survive by only relying on his muscles.
