One Piece Chapter 981: Marco and Nekomamushi Reach Wano Kuni

The war on Onigashima is being set up slowly. The rebellion forces have made it to Wano, but fans can’t help but wonder about one topic — Where is Nekomamushi? Nekomamushi set off a long time ago to search for Marco to enlist his help in taking down Kaido, but he hadn’t been seen since then.

Raw Scans for Chapter 981 were released recently. After a long wait, the scans show that Nekomamushi has made it to Wano and he isn’t alone. Along with Nekomamushi, Marco and Izo have also made it to Wano!!!

To put this timeline into perspective, here is a little recap:

At the end of the Zou arc, Luffy, Nami, Chopper, Brook and a few other minks set off to the Whole Cake Island to bring back Sanji. Zoro and the other Strawhats (Sanji excluded) set off to Wano to prepare for the fight against Kaido.

Nekomamushi, on the other hand, set off to find Marco and enlist his help. This happened 150+ chapters ago, and Nekomamushi has FINALLY made it to Wano.

During the Whole Cake Island arc, we saw a short scene where Nekomamushi had located Marco in Whitebeard’s hometown and asked him for his help. With Edward Weevil attacking anything related to Whitebeard in search of a fortune that doesn’t exist, Whitebeard’s hometown was in potential danger, and Marco explained that he couldn’t leave because of it.

The raw scans show Marco stopping Big Mom’s crew from climbing up Wano’s waterfall. This is very unfortunate for them as they were recently kicked off the waterfall by King in a similar manner. We see glimpses of Nekomamushi and Izo, who have also made it to Wano.

This can potentially mean that Edward Weevil has been defeated off-screen by Marco and Nekomamushi. Marco is a very loyal crewmate, and there is no way he would have left Whitebeard’s hometown without knowing that it is safe.

Marco and Izo making it to Wano have many implications on the storyline AFTER Wano. Marco and Izo are one of the few who have seen Blackbeard’s powers after the events of the Marineford War.

They went up against his entire crew in the Payback War but were defeated. As Blackbeard is one of the main antagonists of the series, Marco can provide invaluable intel about Blackbeard’s powers which are still a big mystery.

Izo

Not to mention that Izo is the only brother of Kikunojo (O-Kiku), who is one of the Red Scabbards. Izo was a vassal of Oden as well, till they crossed paths with Whitebeard and Izo chose to travel the seas with him for longer.

It has been a long time since the brothers met and with Izo on the scene, the “Nine” Red Scabbards can be complete again.

The upcoming chapter might be one of the best chapters released this year.
