If that wasn’t enough, both of them also competed internationally with American movies.

No other anime film has ever gained this much praise and attention globally, and all credit goes to the people who worked on them, especially the creator.

The weeb community has been craving a new film from Shinkai for a long time now, and he finally revealed some exciting news.

The visual features an abandoned door, standing in water in the center of ruins, referring to the film’s central theme, ‘closing doors.’

The story will follow a 17-year-old girl named Suzume who meets a young man searching for a mysterious door.

Intrigued by this, Suzume helps him, and they find a stranded door in the ruins of a mountain. What they didn’t know was that behind it were several disasters from another world.

This brings us to the film’s other themes: the road and adventure. Shinkai describes this film as an adventure tale with a road trip around Japan as Suzume tries to close all doors that have opened around the country.

If we go in-depth, all these aspects of the movie and the plot symbolize growth, cutting off loose ends, and getting closure. Suzume is just another teen who goes through a lot and grows up learning from those experiences.

Generally, Shinkai’s films follow the plot of putting a whole town or a country in danger and having teenagers run around to solve the crisis.

So I think the upcoming movie will have the same romantic-comedy theme that starts wholesome but gradually takes us on an emotional rollercoaster ride.

I just know that this film will also gently take my heart, play with it, and then crush it while breaking it into a billion pieces, as Shinkai’s films always do that to you.

But I will watch it anyway, because who doesn’t like to suffer :’).
