Euphoria Star Sidney Sweeney Lands Role of Spider-Woman in Madame Web

Since its announcement in 2019, Sony’s Madame Web has added several actors to its roster, but their roles are being kept under wraps. Dakota Johnson was cast as the titular character in 2022, and other cast members joined soon, including Sidney Sweeney, Adam Scott, and Emma Roberts.

But now we have reason to believe the Euphoria star is probably donning the role of Julia Carpenter, who is Spider-Woman in the comics. Hot Mic Podcast host Jeff Sneider believes the rumors about this casting, but Sony has not confirmed the news yet. I’m told – there’s been a lot of speculation as to what Sydney Sweeney’s role will be in the Marvel Universe. I’m told that she is as rumored, I guess, playing Spider-Woman. Now, there are a couple of different Spider-Women, [Sydney] was rumored to play the second one.

In the comics, Julia Carpenter’s Spider-Woman was another version of Madame Web, but since Johnson plays that role, we think the film will take another route for Sweeney’s character. The Fifty Shades of Grey actress will play Cassandra Web, a “clairvoyant whose psychic abilities allow her to see within the spider world.”

Johnson’s character will see into the Spider-Verse, but so far, the film hasn’t been linked to the animated film series spanning that world. But the spider-verse inclusion only solidifies the rumor of the Euphoria actress being Spider-Woman indeed.

Sweeney has been seen on sets with Johnson, but no shots of her in costume have surfaced, and we only see her in her “civilian identity.” But it would be interesting to see Sony take up a Spider-person film after investing in movies starring the enemies of Spider-Man.

We don’t know much about the film’s plots or which characters are being brought to life in the film adaptation of the Marvel Comic character, but a trailer will clear that up. So, when can we expect that, Sony?
