Intel’s Internal presentation slides reveal benchmarks for Arrow Lake-S

Intel’s upcoming offerings are the Raptor Lake Refresh, the 14th Gen CPU for desktop, the Arrow Lake-S for desktop and Meteor Lake, focusing on the notebook segment.

Reputed German Hardware leaker IgorsLab has revealed internal slides by Intel for the 15th-Gen Arrow Lake-S compared to the 14th-Gen Raptor Lake-S Refresh. The results were normalized regarding the current flagship CPU by Intel, the Core i9-13900K. The 14th-Gen series will improve performance by 1 to 4%, and the 15th-Gen Arrow Lake will improve by 1 to 21%, depending on the choice of benchmarking software.

The reason behind the choice of each CPU for comparison was made very clear. All of them have the same configuration concerning core counts and thread counts.

However, it must be remembered that the 15th-Gen Arrow Lake’s PL1 and PL2 are configurable up to 250W. This is 3W lower than the 14th Gen Raptor Lake’s LGA1700 platform. This minor difference is not expected to bring any significant change in performance.

One important thing to note is that because this information is not in the public domain, the projections of the 15th-Gen Arrow Lake and the 14th-Gen Raptor Lake could change ahead of launch.

The models have 8 Performance (P) and 16 Efficiency (E) cores. Analyzing the results, it can be concluded that the 15th-Gen Arrow Lake-S will significantly improve performance.

The improvement will predominantly be in the multi-core operations. The Arrow Lake-S recorded the most significant increase in the floating-point tests. At the same time, the Raptor Lake Refresh stagnated over time. The improvement in the performance of the Arrow Lake-S is attributed to the increased clock speeds.

The marked difference concerns the integrated GPU. The Arrow Lake-S leaves the Raptor Lake Refresh behind with 2.2 times better performance.

This performance increase in iGPU is attributed to the Alchemist-based Xe-LPG design, equipped with 8 Xe Cores. This is a significant improvement and welcome news for most light users who want decent gaming performance without needing a discrete GPU.

Changes are coming to Intel. IgorsLab also mentioned that the LGA1851 socket for the Arrow Lake-S will have a different height. Existing coolers might not be fully compatible without a mounting kit upgrade.

It is known that anyone wishing to purchase the Arrow Lake-S will have to upgrade their whole setup. Intel is heating the CPU market with powerful iGPUs that will give AMD some stiff competition.
