2. Recap of Episode 4 of Lazarus

Episode 4 of Lazarus, titled “Don’t Stop The Dance”, started with the group discussing Eleina’s latest finding: Dr.909’s hidden wallet. Dr.909 is a very popular super hacker whose identity is still not known to the public, government, or the FBI. Eleina assumed that since Dr. Skinner needed the help of a super hacker to erase his existence, it was likely that he took Dr.909’s help, as this man made a fortune with the help of a stock investor, Sam, before the deadly news spread.

To get to the bottom of this mystery, Hersch sent everyone except Eleina to find Sam, as he may still be connected to Dr.909, who could be the first clue to finding Skinner. The lot did their research on Sam to find out that he was a scumbag who loved pretty women and drugs, and hosted parties to abuse both. So Christine dressed up cute as the bait, and Leland was forced to cross-dress as a secondary bait, just in case Sam had some specific interests.

The group headed to Club 8 Miles High, where Sam was hosting an event. On entering the bar, they found a VIP lounge which was for Sam and his subordinates, who could only enter using a special biometric engraved on their arms. Women selected by Sam could easily enter without one, though, and funnily enough, Leland caught the eyes of the DJ named Visionary, and he was picked to go upstairs. A really frustrated Christine rode on his coattails to get to the VIP lounge.

Meanwhile, Doug and Axel incapacitated one of Sam’s subordinates, copied his biometric, and had it incorporated into their own body and entered the venue. In the VIP lounge, all the women brought over by Sam were given a fruit punch, which knocked them all out cold, but Christine clearly needed something way more powerful to be taken out. She caught Sam red-handed and beat the daylights out of him.

This led to a series of fights all over the place, as on Axel’s side, the security noticed the anomaly and had Axel cornered. The group fought to break free and get their hands on Sam and Visionary, who had escaped the club on their helicopter. If anyone thought a mere helicopter could’ve stopped Axel, they were wrong, as he caught on to the moving helicopter and flew through the sky in an attempt to catch Sam and Visionary. With a bit more help from Doug and Leland, Axel brought Visionary and Sam down in a matter of minutes.

It was then revealed that the two had no connection to Skinner. They hacked into the server of a pharmaceutical company to obtain the data they needed to make a fortune out of Hapna’s stocks. Axel retrieved the data from them and had the police deal with them.

3. Speculation of Episode 5 of Lazarus

The Data Axel retrieved from Sam and Visionary was from Delta Pharmaceuticals, which was what this duo used to make profits from Hapna. It was established that Dr.909 had no connection to Skinner at all, but Delta Pharmaceuticals definitely knew about the ill effects of Hapna, and it isn’t known if this was due to independent research or if it was with Skinner’s warning.

In the upcoming episode, we will likely see Lazarus move ahead with this hint and investigate Delta Pharmaceuticals’ potential connection with Skinner, which could hopefully be the very first genuine hint the group could get their hands on.

4. About Lazarus

Lazarus is an upcoming original anime series that is set to be directed by Shinichiro Watanabe and will be produced by MAPPA. The director of John Wick, Chad Stahelski, is working on the action pieces.

Adult Swin describes the story: The year is 2052 – an era of unprecedented peace and prosperity prevails across the globe. The reason for this: mankind has been freed from sickness and pain. Nobel Prize-winning neuroscientist Dr. Skinner has developed a miracle cure-all drug with no apparent drawbacks called Hapuna. Hapuna soon becomes ubiquitous… and essential. However, soon after Hapuna is officially introduced, Dr. Skinner vanishes.

Three years later, the world has moved on. But Dr. Skinner has returned – this time, as a harbinger of doom. Skinner announces that Hapuna has a short half-life. Everyone who has taken it will die approximately three years later. Death is coming for this sinful world – and coming soon.

As a response to this threat, a special task force of 5 agents is gathered from across the world to save humanity from Skinner’s plan. This group is called “Lazarus.” Can they find Skinner and develop a vaccine before time runs out?
