Tsurune, KyoAni’s love letter to archery, will be back to satiate your aesthetic needs once again. This time, not with a new season but an anime movie and we can say that KyoAni knows how to treat their fans right.
Minato finally got over his target panic in the first season but is yet to confront the issue with Sho. I hope he doesn’t have to choose between Seiya and Sho in the upcoming film.
Kyoto Animation has finally announced that Tsurune’s sequel film is scheduled for release in 2022 in Japan. A new PV gives us a glimpse into our beloved world of Kazemai High School once again.
The PV does not give us any hints on what’s to come, but it does provide a dose of all the precious moments from the first season. It portrays Minato’s beautiful stance and the moment he could hear “tsurune,” or the perfect sound that the arrow makes after it is released.
Minato’s journey of finding meaning and recovering from target panic is relived in the PV. Of course, how can I forget about the dashing sensei, Masaki Takigawa? After all, his fate will also be revealed soon.
I have been on top of the clouds ever since this film was announced, which was enhanced even more by the previously revealed visual.
Takuya Yakimura was the director of the anime’s previous season and will be returning to direct the movie as well. The rest of the cast and staff members haven’t been announced yet, but they might reprise their roles.
Both Crunchyroll and HIDIVE streamed Tsurune’s first season, so overseas fans might not have to wait too long to access the movie.
Kazemai High School won the last competition as Sho lost his focus in the last round, but future matches won’t be as forgiving. With the quality that KyoAni promises, I am sure that Tsurune has the potential to beat major franchises as well.
So, tie your belts and sit tight because the most aesthetically pleasing movie of the year will be dropping soon.
Tsurune is a light novel by Kotoko Ayano which was adapted into an anime series by Kyoto Animation in 2018.
The plot revolves around Minato, a high schooler who has grown up loving archery but developed a sudden target panic. Yet, he is recruited into an archery club in high school and along with his team and instructor finds the true meaning behind his passion.
