Gameplay Trailer Of eFootball Has Finally Been Revealed

Last month, we spoke about how Konami had planned to rebrand its Pro Evolution Soccer franchise as eFootball and made it free to play. The company has now given us the first look at the new game with a trailer highlighting some of the game’s new features.

While Pro Evolution has been a long-standing name in football simulations, it has always been playing catch-up with FIFA. While it may have outpaced FIFA with its more technical style of football, but the lack of licensing and polish held it back.

Now renamed eFootball, Konami is tackling the mammoth task of convincing players to abandon FIFA and check out its own football game.

One of the significant changes is how eFootball will be going free-to-play, which is sure to turn some heads. We don’t have a confirmed release date; all we know is that it should release sometime in “Autumn.”

eFootball will launch with European clubs Manchester United, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Juventus, and Barcelona and South American giants Corinthians, River Plate, Sao Paolo, and Flamengo. These are going to be available to play in both local matches and cross-gen online games.

Later in Autumn, we can also expect to have cross-platform games as well as online leagues, Team Building mode, and a Match Pass system. The Match Pass system will be how new content is added to the game and will function similar to a battle pass. An eSports tournament should also be underway by Winter.

The game is going to be running on an entirely new engine. The gameplay footage showcased at Gamescom showed us new, more controlled dribbling and new ‘sharp kicks,’ basically more controlled lofts and drives of the ball.

These special kicks will not be available at launch; they will be added with a post-launch update. The trailer also had Gerard Pique and Andres Iniesta, who were consulted on the game.
